Medium gold colour. Smells a bit gluey, appley and with a little bit of grassiness. Has a light malt note, a bit of tartness, but ok as macros go. One of the better macros in the South Pacific.

Green bottle via on of my wife’s co-workers from his wayward globetrotting... Thanks for thinking of me Bob! Robust burst of skunk as cap is removed. the hefty green bottle has "Property of Solomon Brewery" embossed on the bottom. Pale to medium yellow in the glass with sparse carbonation yielding a thin film of head that does not complete the circumference of the glass. Body is moderate and brief. Some skunky grassiness and a spattering of hop. Finish is clean and abrupt. No lacing. Thanks again Bob!

Can received as a Christmas present. Pours yellow with a thin white head. Smells of apples, skunk. Tastes watery and of sweet malt and rotten apples. Finish yields some weird cleaner like aftertaste. Aweful beer.

Bottled. Presents like a typical industrial lager with a medium head. Touch of skunk and boiled veg in the nose with some grassy hops in the background. Thin mouthfeel, sweet malt with a slight metallic tang. Not great but I’ve drunk worse, it’d be ok on a hot day in Honiara if served ice cold.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2006 [Bottled] Golden colour, average head. Tinny vegetable aroma. Sweetish with mellow mouthfeel and strong tin flavour and rusty finish. What did they brew it with? Lead? Lousy even by tropical island standards.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2005 Stuck on a Tropical Island with only one brand of beer? Then it’s pretty good on a hot day, and if your having a Solbrew then you are definately in a Tropical Paradise like no other. It is a typical low budget good intention beer however be wary of having too many as there might be a little fermaldahyde mixed in another type, SB same only stronger and worse(had an aweful hangover after having 6). Solomon Islands, good memories, Solbrew........ well it was cold anyway.
I should add a disclaimer, I am rating this beer more than a year after I consumed it so my memory maybe a little cloudy, by all means go to the Solomon Islands and rate it for yourself!
