3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draught. Pours a medium golden, smallish but persistent white head that left decent lacing in my glass. Nose is earthy and pungent citrus, tropical fruit, biscuity malt backbone, dried apricots, pine. Mouth is medium bodied, sticky and somewhat sweet up front, bitterness kicks in around mid-range and finishes on a strong note (the ABV kind’ve rears its head). Not really sure how this is a ’Belgian’ IPA as I’m not getting any kind of funkiness found in that sort of style, but this is still a decent IPA take at face value.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at Great Taste of the Midwest on 08/09/2014: Orange-amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, yeast and sweet malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

Awesome beer here. Anything from solemn oath never disappoints. A nice hoppy finish is fantastic

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle:   A musty Belgian IPA.   Not real barnish or funky.   Reminds me of old Apricots for some reason.   Not all that hoppy.   Has a stale sweetness to it.   A little bit tea leaves.   Odd, but also some stale fortune cookie like sweetness.   One of those fortune cookies that has been in the cupboard too long.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Leave it to Beaver like finish.   Too old, not bright enough for my tastes.   Not musty or barnish, and certainly not very hoppy.   Tiz okay, but too mild overall.

Hazy orange amber beer, decent cream colour head. Palate is semi dry and crisp from fine carbonation. Smooth light malt base, touch of cream. Good orange hops with lesser tangerine. Touches of bitter peel, mango and spicy yeast. Finishes light and airy. Comes together well. Very drinkable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours deep gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Yeast and bubblegum aromas. Soft with sweet caramel and yeast upfront turning to mild grapefruit in the lasting finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Has a nice Amber pour. Has a sweet aroma of grapefruit. It has a complex flavor, that starts off a bit sweet. We get a complex grapefruit, bread, floral, and other citrus flavors. It has a solid spicy finish, with a lot of hops.
Pours a richer hazey golden amber hue, good haziness, and a frothy offwhite head that dies to a richer ring, laces well overall. Aromas are richer citrus, touches of dough, grapefruit, some bread, and florals. Gentle spice, mellow yeast. Bigger lemon and citrus as it warms. Simple but a hop dominant offering, some gentle dough and a kiss of apple. Initial is medium bodied, offering a firm hopping, bigger touches of dough and fruit, apple, kiss of pear, with grain, dough. Some sweetness invades, touches of yeast, mellow spice. Some dryness. Middle is gentle dough, bread, a kiss of dryness, hops and gentle spice. Backend offers some dryness, gentle earthy dryness, florals, a touch herbal. Mellow sweetness in the middle (as a sort of Imperial Belgian IPA would offer), more dry finish. Gentle spice, dryness. Pretty solid beer with lingering dry citrusy and earthy hops. Florals, some bitterness. Nice lingering head. A well done Imperial Belgian IPA, a kick of malt that preaches lighter more funf ruit presence, rich hop presence, but not a dominant bitter bomb. Tasty, albeit not my style of choice.caramel, bread, hay,

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from Jim’s in Mundelein. Pours orangey with a bit of a foamy white head leaving a lot of lacing - lively carbonation. Aroma has pine and citrus, and some spicy/tangy yeast, with maybe some caramel. Taste is of spicy pine, tangy spices from the yeast, bitter grapefruit. More tangy down through the glass. Medium bodied. Finishes tangy spicy with some length. A solid example of a belgian IPA. More belgian-y further down.

Tap at SO taproom. Soft orange pour, fluffy white head and lacing. Big, beautiful hop nose: citrus, candied grapefruit and orange, light caramel, touch of Belgian yeast influence. Full mouthfeel, touch of tropical fruit. Could be a little drier, but a winner overall.
