3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at the Bad Apple, Chicago. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a round white head. The aroma is acid saison sour. The flavour is medium sour with a spicy pepper zesty acidic palate. A slightly different twist on a traditional style.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Flight pour on tap at the brewery (Naperville, IL). Pours a nice pale golden hue, some nice glow, gentle haziness in the body. Mellow carbonation, frothy whitish head atop stays as a decent ring, laces ok. Aromas show a distinct yeasty life, grapefruit and melon meet some dryness, almost some clove, firmer spicy yeast and straw. Bready malts, touch of dough. Firmly dry, but the yeast still seems the focus at times. Mixes well enough with a decent to firm citrusy hopping, florals, and gentle grass. Initial is lighter end of the fold, a bit fizzy and dry on the palate, some spiciness, decent dryness and bitterness hits from the hops. Some almost subtle dank elements. Citrus juice is subtle, a bit tart mixing with a gentle tropical fruit feel, dry bready and straw malt elements. The spicy yeast driven nose is less intense here, leading to a more session worthy and drinkable offering. Backend is a bit dry, spicy, and fuzzy. A bit yeasty, some firmer bitter hops, touches of lotion and herbal hops hit back there. Finish is dry, a bit spicy and yeasty. Some cool fruit, more melon and gentle citrus taper out. Some florals, grass, a touch of that herbal/lotion feel. Cool and a bit interesting, a bit fuzzy. An odd beer that offers a big yeast nose but a firm hop compliment in nose and more fruity, drinkable, and firmly hopped beer itself. Pretty solid if a bit confusing for me.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Tuscan wine market Chicago suburbs. Hoppier than most saisons I’ve had. Smells of light citrus, grains. There is a definite bite which presents itself mid-sip and through the finish. I would probably have this again. Be ready for a crisp, relatively light, hoppy ale.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Jerry’s. Gold with good, creamy, frothy white head, fair legs / Bright nose of weed, citrus, spice / Medium body, somewhat thin but fat, hint of sweetness but mostly dry with good hopping, and bitter finish / Flavors of lemon, grapefruit, grain spice, straw, pine / Doesn’t quite match the allure of the nose, and the body is a touch watery, but still a lot of positives.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the annual Chicago Beer Society picnic, and self served to a clear, plastic shaker showing a hazed, light gold color, with a lasting layer of frothy, off white/cream head foam. The nose was hop cones and lemon, with some tartness, and overly ripe fruit scent. Light to medium bodied, with spritzy carbonation, a little soapiness, a medium, lingering hop bitterness, acceptable astringency, and a dry finish. Decently drinkable.
