3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Whirlyball in Vernon Hills to celebrate my other brother’s 40th. Pours orangey-brown with a bit of an off-white head leaving nice lacing. Aroma has fresh fruit, citrus and some resin. Taste is of bitter citrus, resin, somewhat sticky with some sweet caramel. Well balanced. Finishes nicely bittersweet and long. Very nice IPA; everything I am looking for when I go to a place and order one.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Pouts deep gold orange with a small white head. Aroma is nicely Citric, fresh fruity notes and a touch of pine and herbal. Flavor starts sweet and Citric some caramel malt coming in that adds a touch too much breadiness for me but finishes clean and not too bitter. Medium body and a crisp carbonation. Very session able easy ipa

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at the Rev Grand Opening. Pours an orangey gold with a big white head. Nose is a bit odd. Lots of citrus and pine, but also an odd savory note that carries into the flavor. Dried out malts, a bit thin as well and a touch boozy feeling. On tasint, the savory, almost meaty note comes back, along with some woody hops. Kind of lacking that juicy fruity note that the great IPAs tend to have. Odd, this one. Will try this again.

4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Jerry’s. Muddy orange-amber with good, creamy, off-white head / Brilliant, weedy nose of citrus, caramel, and fresh cut pine / Medium body, some sweetness, just a touch watery, but with good balance and bitter finish / Flavors of orange, grapefruit, passion fruit, cut pine, caramel, and bubblegum / Body issues detract from the strong flavor profile, but still a fine beer and effort from this new brewer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft pint at Standard Market. $4! A cloudy, yellowish brown, somewhat accentuated by the yellow from the Two Brothers logo on the tumbler they served it in thin foam ring. Hoppy smell of Amarillos or their kin. Taste is big big big on hops; mostly pine needles and resin, delivering its primary blast to the back half of the mouth. Not really a Double IPA, just a hopped up one. Served a little too cold, but maybe I don’t want to be there when it warms up. Then there’s a smooth, just slightly sweet and nutty malt bill to keep this beer in its cage. A gobstopping beer experience.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Picked up a growler from the brewery. Pours hazy orangish amber with white head. Aromas of resiny hops, grapefruit, light pine, peaches, and mango. Flavor of citrus, tropical fruit, resiny hops, caramel malt, and moderate hop bitterness. Nice to have a fresh IPA for once. Solid.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft on tap at the Revolution Brewery Grand Opening Party (Chicago, IL). Pours a darker amber gold hue, with mellow haze. Rich cakey offwhite head offers good lacing and thickness. Rich cakey thick head. Aromas are some good florals and mellow citrus, grapefruit and lemons. Touches of grass, touches of more grapefruit, faint melon. A sweet touch of pale malts, touches of caramel. Initial is medium bodied, offering a kick of rich dryness and bitter hops up front. Grapefruit, dry florals, and good grass. Middle offers a touch of sweetness, bready and doughy malts, a touch of grain, moving into a more dry and bitter backend, more grapefruit and citrus come forward and then backend and finish dries up, more earthy overall. Solid experience, fairly dry overall with a mellow touch of sweetness. Not the most complex hopping, but solid fresh local IPA.
