4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draft taster at the brewery ($9 for four 4-oz tasters, and the pours are a bit on the generous side). Big ’catbox" and pineapple smell which I would not have associated with Summits so much as Amarillo. Hazy brass color with a ring of light foam. Citrus and pine hop bomb on my tongue, palate, even my teeth. Yet I just want to slurp this down, maybe just to get this beer over with?A milder lemon note at the back of my sample.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Enjoyed on tap at Emporium Arcade Bar in Chicago, IL. I went on naming alone when choosing this one, and I'm happy I did because it was pretty damn good. I didn't take tasting notes, but remember this being nicely hopped with a bitter finish, as well as grassy notes. Good stuff from this growing brewery.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler from a fellow Siebel student, thanks Libby! Pours a hazed golden colored body with a finger-width, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is big citrus florals with a bit of a resiny, catty pine. Somewhat bready, lightly sweetened malt backing with a touch of caramel. Flavor is bigger grapefruit pines with some resins and a bunch of floral lemons and citruses. A lightly sweetened and somewhat bready malt backing balances the consistent bitterness before this finishes dry and bitter with some pine resins and citruses. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a fairly crisp, moderate carbonation. Overall, a really solid pale ale. Firmly bitter with a nice citrus pine and floral hopping that is balanced well by a lightly sweetened, somewhat bready malt backing. Great beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft on tap at the brewery (Naperville, IL). Exciting new APA.. I’m there! Pours a hazy dulled amber hue. Some dulled golden amber glow on bottom and edges start to stick out. A frothy offwhite head atop dies to a good layer, laces well. Aromas are good citrusy vibrancy, lemons take the reigns with grapefruit, florals, and gentle resiny pine. A bit soapy, gentle bready and pale malts, some gentle dough, straw. Nice vibrant hops albeit not intense of a rich melange or overwhelming feel. Initial is lighter end of the fold, richer dry citrusy lemon and floral dryness coats the palate up front. Mellow carbonation, some dry resiny pine, soap, and earth. Florals, lots of lemon rind and fruit. Firmly bitter and dry up front. Touches of bread, some dough and dry straw into the middle. Really dry and bitter in the palate throughout, even as it warms. Dry, citrusy flavors, albeit not intense. What remains is a richly dry, bitter hop presence. Resiny, floral, and firmly lingering. I wouldn’t call this a complex hopped APA, but it’s richly bitter with a small malt body. Easily quaffable, intense and fresh. Good hops and richly dry, sessionable. Nice!
