Bottle at James’ house for the End of History tasting. Pours a lightly hazed amber with a thin white head. Soft sweetness and malt on the nose. Medium bodied, sticky malt and toast, sweet with a touch of bitterness. Lingering bitterness over sweet sticky malt.

Bottle. Orange pour with tan head. Hoppy grass and fruit flavors, hop tones with a touch of malty sweetness. Too hoppy for my taste in barley wines.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I will start out by saying this rating is for the bottled version I've been to the brewery and had it on tap and cask vastly preferred the cask version thought it was one of the better barley wines I've had better than behemoth. Not nearly as boozy allowed the malts to shine with a nice low carb and booze warmth great on cask. Probably will develop much better after cellaring. Anyways in the bottle the malts don't come through nearly as much neither does the nice warm aroma a lot of the delicious flavor is trumped by the alcohol flavor. It pours beautifully clear nice dark red color. It's definitely a delicious barley wine gets much better as it gets to room temp just not nearly as good as what I had before.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bomber crushed with Honkey. Hazy reddish-brown pour with a white head. Aroma gives an initial hit of acetaldehyde. Off-putting immediately. Flavor has some hops, but more squashy bad stuff. Bummer.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber feom Binny’s Des Plaines. Pours clear copper with an off-white head. Aromas of darkmfruits, sweet malts, caramel, and grassy hops. Flavors of bitter hops, caramel, bready malts, fruit, and booze, a ton of booze. Finishes bitter and boozy.Really disapointing. I want to support local breweries, but at $10 a bomber it should at least be enjoyable which this was not. If you are going to call it a barley wine either go the English direction, or hop the shit out of it like I thought this was going to be. This tasted like a bitter old ale.
