4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20 Dr_Tomatoes (1) - - JAN 12, 2011 does not count
I’d enjoy any good refreshing beer, but this somersby apple cider is beyond anything I had ever tasted....
the taste of the apples are just sizzling on my lips&tongue!
Also reminds me of Smirnoff Apple Ice, but without that small buzz.
A Great refreshing drink indeed....

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 heavy (1956) - Split, CROATIA - JUL 20, 2010
0.33 l clear bottle which reveals its pale yellow body. Aroma of sweet apple juice. Fine sweetish, apple juice flavor, seems quite real and very slightly artificial. Nice longer sweet finish. Pleasant but way too simple and only a bit too sweet for my taste. However, it’s better than vast majority of commercial (non-French) ciders, so I can’t get low ratings. Do we have the same thing here?
1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20 ClubGonzo (2695) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 3, 2010
Pours a lime-greenish body; aroma of apple juice and sugar. Taste is very sugary and dominated by concentrates: fake apples, loads of sweetening agents. Kinda fizzy. Vaguely more balanced than some of the other cheap cider’s I’ve tried recently, but all in all Somersby Apple Cider is another run-of-the-mill commercial cider which leaves me nothing but a sticky mouthfeel.
1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Marko (3612) - Split, CROATIA - JUN 18, 2010
0.33l bottle, distributed by Carlsberg Croatia. Pale yellow body with steady streams of carbonation and a tiny white head that went away fast. Distinct appley nose, like apple juice. What the fuck... apple juice mixed with vodka, sweet, almost sticky, trace acidity near the end to give it some semblance of drinkability. The ingredients list on this one says 30% apple wine (great, why is this on the site?) as the sole source of alcohol... I dread to think what that tastes like, if alcohol’s this bad in the heavily diluted version that is this "cider". Oh, it’s coloured by caramel too. Almost an epic fail, with the acidity saving it from that status. I mean, I’ve had cider of this type in Finland and Estonia and those were, if crap, quite drinkable and tasty for the aberrations that they are. This doesn’t manage to achieve even that. The only cider I can remember being worse than this is Blackthorn, which I overrated I guess. Ah, well.

Can, 4.7%. Sweet apple soft drink aroma. Clear golden colour, no head. Sweet flavour, tastes like apple candy. Quite sweet, but somehow OK balanced. Better than expected, but gets extremely sweet after some sips.
1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 16, 2009
Bottle 33 cl. Clear yellow with a bubbly dissipating white head. Aroma of apple and cinnamon. Medium body, very sweet and artificial apple notes - very sugary indeed. No apple acidity whatsoever. Even for a commercial cider this is pretty bad. 160909

Sodapop for the masses. The cider-generation breaks through these days. Hopefully they will not destroy our beerrevolution. But an okay thirstquencher for the first two sips.
