The Sonnenbraeu ICE Beer is brewed in a quite special procedure: the storage temperature of the beer is so far lowered, until ice crystals form. This out-filtered and in such a way develops the mild beer with the characteristic ice beer taste.

Neutral sweetish beginning. Nearly neutral with hints of malt and a bit of bitterness in the aftertaste. Malty, sweetish, pale aftertaste. Boring and neutral. Sad but what it wants to be.

Pale golden color, clear; quickly dissipating, minimal white head - Aroma of paper, some grain or cereal, water - taste: light bitterness - light body, thin texture, lively carbonation - short, grainy finish.

Hellgetreidiger Antrunk, der verloren darsteht, da sich keine anderen Aromen finden lassen, die hier folgen. Zum Ende etwas hopfig-nussig, erfrischend. Trinkbar aber sehr sehr mild. 4/5/7/5/7/5

Bottled 275ml. Courtesy of Bov. Bland. Hardly any bitterness. Good drinkability. Mediocre and inoffensive. Thanks Bov!

jellow-golden color:smells a little bit hoppy, but this hoppy smell is hidden by a sweet smell(a little bit artificial smell) tasts better than it smells.Hoppy,a little bit sweet.by the way,ice beer means, that the beer is stored so cold, that ice cristals are growing in it,they are filtered, and so the flavour is mild.i had other ice beers with less taste.but ice beer doesn’t mean, that one should drink it very icy,it has more flavours if it’s tasted not to cold. The design of the bottle has changed,it’s no more like the foto on this page, but a assortment of comic-style pictures, fot example,a breakdancing beer-bottle,with the writing"beer in action".perhaps the brewers have seen, that it tasts better less icy?(the design loos very less icy!!)A beer for people who doesn’t like bitter beer,or for a hot summer day.but i prefer beers with a little more different aromes, this one has a little bit simple taste for my opinion.

No so great. It’s a bit sweet. Lacks any character.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2003 This beer has the horrible honour to be the first swiss ice beer - clear golden colour, fine head and lace, aroma of paperboard and grain, sweet, plastic-like - dreadful stuff
