David and Robert both love bourbon. We mean love bourbon. Maybe thatís why they didnít beat around the bush here. Sure, you can age subtly in bourbon barrels. And subtlety is sometimes enough. But, with the Anvil, the real spark ignited when we tossed nuance aside and added a healthy measure of our proprietary barrel-proof bourbon flavor. Suddenly, something intense, alive and memorable happened. To our palates, it offers a clean, lively, aromatic presence with a layered smoky finish. Itís truly integrated and rounded, yet vitally distinct. Enjoy.

I drank this will grilling on a stupid grill that doesnít get above 350 degrees. I canít wait until i have my own grill again; one that will sear the shit out of any piece of meat you slap on it. There were like 2 slightly charred kernels between the 2 ears of "grilled" corn. I hate that grill. This cider rates exactly 3.2. Itís kind of molasses tasting. Stupid grill...

Bottle. Looks like the pee of someone who hasnít had enough water. Smells like chemicals and mild leather. Tastes like crap. A bit drying on the tongue.

Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, white, fully diminishing. Body is light yellow. Aroma is notes of sawdust, varnish, chemicals, apple skins. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation, lightly astringent. Wow. Truly horrid. The nose bears no resemblance to bourbon, but rather raw wood and varnish and other chemicals. Dirty aftertaste as you might expect from the nose. As terrible as their "pear" cider is, this is even worse. Probably the worst cider Iíve had since those terrifying Crispin ammonia-bombs.

Not very good. Has a week body, and taste. Not really detecting any bourbon flavor either.

22 oz bottle.

I picked this one up at Beer Authority because it was cheap and I didnít know what I was getting into. Big mistake. Clear light-colored pour. Nose has hints of rotten apple, dry cleaning shop, and processed leather. Sugary early but not sweet, a bit of dry apple, and something more like kaopectate than bourbon.

Anvil alright--in the nuts. Drainpour.

Bottle. Clear copper. No head. Aroma has tart apples and a hint at barrel notes. Taste is mildly tart and apply. Lighter body. Moderate carbonation.

Not sweet at all. Somewhat bitter. Can taste the bourbon flavoring. Not a lot of fizz.

Oh, what the hell? A soda pop cider w/ bourbon barrel flavoring. Honestly, fuck this stuff. It smells like leather and sawdust and tastes like leather and sawdust plus sweet apple juice with Smarties candies dissolved in it. It is full bodied and kind of heavy on the plate, a bit tart which almost works w/ the sweetness but seems to clash w/ the bourbon flavoring. I donít like this in principle and I donít like it in practice. For something similar that actually tastes pretty good check out Woodchuck Oak Aged.

Bottle pour. Pours a darker copper color with a heavy apple aroma. The bourbon is definitely there on this one, and you can taste it from the very beginning. Bourbon flavor, but not boozy. Fresh apple flavor. This wasnít too bad, but something does seem missing. An interesting, creative, unique cider here. Enjoyed it.

> Heavier, sweet butterscotch American/English style cider

[ Bottle ][ 500ml? ][ t0rin0 ][ Tasting ][ Glazen Toren Stemmed Tulip ][ 8.22.14 ]
>> Clear deep golden pour, good white foam with longer retention than almost all cider. Good lacing even. Nose is apple Jolly Rancher, butterscotch, macadamia, vanilla. Taste is juicier, butterscotch, spicier. Rich, denser mouthfeel. Definitely in the "sweet" cider realm. Even though it has a lot of butterscotch, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

>!< butterscotch all over
