David and Robert both love bourbon. We mean love bourbon. Maybe thatís why they didnít beat around the bush here. Sure, you can age subtly in bourbon barrels. And subtlety is sometimes enough. But, with the Anvil, the real spark ignited when we tossed nuance aside and added a healthy measure of our proprietary barrel-proof bourbon flavor. Suddenly, something intense, alive and memorable happened. To our palates, it offers a clean, lively, aromatic presence with a layered smoky finish. Itís truly integrated and rounded, yet vitally distinct. Enjoy.

It pours a very clear dark golden color with a small white head that fades quickly, and the aroma blends sweet apples with a hint of bourbon brown sugar. The taste is mildly sweet and mildly sour, but the aftertaste is a really dry, somewhat off flavor that is somewhat reminiscent of bourbon (but not really). The palate fuses an oily texture, medium-light body, and a nearly flat carbonation.

Bottle from Cajun Cafe Cider and Mead Fest 2015. Pours a mostly clear cider yellow-orange with a white fizzy head. Nose is apple, bourbon, oak, some mild apple, some dryness, and some mild sugar. Flavor is similar with oak, bourbon, light apple, some sweetness, and a mildly dry finish. This is a pretty nice cider overall, a bit dryer than I like, but nice.

Copper color, somewhat sweet, not very dry, bourbony, smoky finish, not amazing, but Iíd drink it again.

Honestly, reading the other reviews, I have to disagree somewhat. There is a fairly decent amount of Bourbon flavor in here. Brown sugar, vanilla and dry wood. Itís not a great cider by any stretch of the imagination. Nor is the nose very pleasant at all but it has a reasonable flavor and a very light body. I like it well enough for the fall. Edit: Actually fuck this stuff. Itís so sweet by the end of the bottle I canít even finish it.

not what I expected. I was expecting an excessively-bourbony cider. It wasnít, yet that isnít the problem. Iíve never encountered this much diacetyl in a cider before. itís a butter bomb like some newbie fullers yeast homebrews Iíve tasted...and maybe even made at one point. completely distracting, to the nose, in which it almost completely covers up the bruised green apple and, yes, bourbon, as well as flavor which is less apple, more sweet, light tannin, low acid, moderate bourbon. it even makes the palate slick/increases perception of body like in a green beer. bought a 4-pack after a liquor store swore this was great. dumped the other three; live and learn.

I drank this will grilling on a stupid grill that doesnít get above 350 degrees. I canít wait until i have my own grill again; one that will sear the shit out of any piece of meat you slap on it. There were like 2 slightly charred kernels between the 2 ears of "grilled" corn. I hate that grill. This cider rates exactly 3.2. Itís kind of molasses tasting. Stupid grill...

Bottle. Looks like the pee of someone who hasnít had enough water. Smells like chemicals and mild leather. Tastes like crap. A bit drying on the tongue.

Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, white, fully diminishing. Body is light yellow. Aroma is notes of sawdust, varnish, chemicals, apple skins. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation, lightly astringent. Wow. Truly horrid. The nose bears no resemblance to bourbon, but rather raw wood and varnish and other chemicals. Dirty aftertaste as you might expect from the nose. As terrible as their "pear" cider is, this is even worse. Probably the worst cider Iíve had since those terrifying Crispin ammonia-bombs.

Not very good. Has a week body, and taste. Not really detecting any bourbon flavor either.

22 oz bottle.

I picked this one up at Beer Authority because it was cheap and I didnít know what I was getting into. Big mistake. Clear light-colored pour. Nose has hints of rotten apple, dry cleaning shop, and processed leather. Sugary early but not sweet, a bit of dry apple, and something more like kaopectate than bourbon.

Anvil alright--in the nuts. Drainpour.
