David and Robert both love bourbon. We mean love bourbon. Maybe thatís why they didnít beat around the bush here. Sure, you can age subtly in bourbon barrels. And subtlety is sometimes enough. But, with the Anvil, the real spark ignited when we tossed nuance aside and added a healthy measure of our proprietary barrel-proof bourbon flavor. Suddenly, something intense, alive and memorable happened. To our palates, it offers a clean, lively, aromatic presence with a layered smoky finish. Itís truly integrated and rounded, yet vitally distinct. Enjoy.

12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass at Lunar Brewing Co., showing a clear & bright, golden hue, with a modest layer of white head foam that diminished quickly to a persistent ring, leaving some light spots of lacing on the glass. The nose was light spice, apple with some tartness, and subtle, caramel sweetness. A bit less than medium bodied, the texture seemed to thin a bit as the flavor lost some of the tartness, with only mild carbonation, and no noticeable bourbony presence, but started to show a little butter with the caramel as it warmed. The bourbon idea initially intrigued me, but altogether, was a little disappointed, and found this hard to finish.

Bottle - Light sweetness with a touch of apple. Clear gold. Light sweetness and a touch of apple and a touch of funk.

22 oz. bottle, pours a clear golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of bourbonized apples -- but very weak and cheap tasting. Flavour is not too bad, with notes of bourbon and weak lightly sweetened apples. Very cheap and simplistic, but clean and drinkable. Not terrible, but lacking complexity. Alright.

On tap at Food, Wine & Co. Nice golden body with tiny head. Nose is fruits, especially apple with brown sugar. I guess it is bourbon. Taste sweet and some bourbon notes. Verz oily texture. Okay.

No real head. Golden orange body with a handful of bubbles in the glass. Let get aroma. Apple flavor muted by the bourbon barrels. Almost a dry finish. Was recommended by the girl at Whole Foods Gilman. But, Iím not really digging it.

This guy named Scott shared this with me, he knows Iím a bit of a cider hound. Now he didnít quite say that of course, he isnít much of a joker like I am, but heís a good guy and he loves cats so heís cool. Crummy cider- dirty socks dipped in bourbon would be my vote. Now, back to Scott...,

Cider isnít our thing, but this is not bad. Pours a clear orange. Smells of hard fruit and bourbon. Taste is quite sweet, but is contrasted by the boozy bourbon. Had on tap at Bay Area Brew Fest 2015.

wow - donít get the super low scores. Not a favorite, but well above average (if only cause itís barreled and I like barreled ciders). Pretty basic but refreshing semi-sweet apple nose and aroma. The nose has some bourbon, but the taste less, with a wisp of smoke, and a surprisingly buttery palate. Unique.

Funny but I donít get even the barest hint of bourbon here, barely even any barrel notes at all. If I had no idea it was bb-aged, I would just label this an ordinary cider. It is very British, very light carbonation, dry, darkly fruity, very much not an apple-juice flavor but more vinous. I think for sure it is the best non-Spanish non-French cider I have had.
