COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
David and Robert both love bourbon. We mean love bourbon. Maybe that’s why they didn’t beat around the bush here. Sure, you can age subtly in bourbon barrels. And subtlety is sometimes enough. But, with the Anvil, the real spark ignited when we tossed nuance aside and added a healthy measure of our proprietary barrel-proof bourbon flavor. Suddenly, something intense, alive and memorable happened. To our palates, it offers a clean, lively, aromatic presence with a layered smoky finish. It’s truly integrated and rounded, yet vitally distinct. Enjoy.

Apple, ivory soap, bourbon aroma. Clear amber, actually formed a head which I find unusual for a cider. Overripe apples, soapy overtones. Light body, easy carbonation. Not slick or oily, but flavor and aroma are distinctly of some kind of soap.

Bottle, thanks to Misterburd. Clear amber with frothy off-white small head, faint bourbon aroma, fizzy carbonation, lightly sweet taste, thin body, dry finish. Quite crisp and dry, bourbon flavor was not very noticeable.

golden with small head. i thought i would like this the best of the three varieties, and was saving it for last, but it’s rather underwhelming and definitely in third place. average cider with light bourbon. thin.

Pours a clear dark straw body with lots of bubbles. The aroma is caramel, apples and wood. The taste is smoke, caramel and apples. The texture is crisp. The bourbon flavor is a nice addition.

Bottle @ Home. Clear pale golden yellow with a light carbonation and some mild head formation. More just woody than a distinct bourbon aroma. Some apple skin, seltzer, and cheap white wine. The flavor has a bunch of caramel at first, but a ton of metallic, iron sort of flavor. Kind of rough. Some apple skins, chalk, and a bit of tart green grape.

Clear deep golden with a thin ring of rocky white foam. Lovely vanilla Apple aromas that give way to a pleasing and complex palate of crisp gala apples, vanilla, caramel, and a touch of sweet champagne grape. Nice complexity but still a bit more sweet than ciders need to be, like Woodchuck.

Tasting at Matt’s
Blond color. Semi sweet cider, not much character, I’m not sure there’s bourbon. Simple.

12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass at Lunar Brewing Co., showing a clear & bright, golden hue, with a modest layer of white head foam that diminished quickly to a persistent ring, leaving some light spots of lacing on the glass. The nose was light spice, apple with some tartness, and subtle, caramel sweetness. A bit less than medium bodied, the texture seemed to thin a bit as the flavor lost some of the tartness, with only mild carbonation, and no noticeable bourbony presence, but started to show a little butter with the caramel as it warmed. The bourbon idea initially intrigued me, but altogether, was a little disappointed, and found this hard to finish.
