COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
EVER THE PURIST, David approached pear cider cautiously. Often cloyingly sweet, he deemed few worthy of the Sonoma Cider name. So the bar was set at: balance, nuance, intensity or not at all. Contrasting crisp and creamy, aromatic and tart, he added all-natural pear flavors to Sonomaís distinct small-apple blend until he found something genuine, with real cider integrity.

Pitchfork is our happy ending. Itís an apple connoisseurís pear cider, hand-crafted with organic apples and a measured infusion of pear essence. Itís both intense and balanced, greeting you with the distinct aromas of both fruits. Weíre convinced its fresh play of flavors, crisp start and creamy pear finish will inspire a fan club all its own. With David, the skeptic, presiding. Bottomís up.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Apalachee - 12 oz bottle. Sparkling light golden ginger ale-like pour with nice bubble action and no head. Aroma has some sweet pear accents, a touch of vanilla, pleasant. Flavor is pretty full bodied for a perry, with some tangy pear fruitiness, a touch of club soda, some light vanilla accents. Mouthfeel has a nice spritz to it, Very refreshing.

The added vanilla flavor doesnít play nice with the pear flavor, leading to an odd almost medicinal flavor. It also has a rather thick texture.

CelticBrew (827) - The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA - SEP 26, 2014
Poured from 12 oz green bottle an orangey hay hue. formed little to no head. Aroma strong of pears, clay and wheat grass. flavour strong up front with pear, apple comes through sharply. Again, Scottish wheat grass comes to mind. Ending is lightly tart. Not a big fan of the style, decent enough I guess.

Aroma is pear/pear skin, mild sweetness and a hint of caramel/toffee. The flavor is pear, caramel, a hint of fruit and a very tart/dry finish.

12oz bottle. Light golden yellow. Light fizz. Aroma of tart apple meat & sweet pear juice. Tastes of applesauce, hints of pear extract. Finishes tart with pear sugars. Essence of fructose. Not as good as Hatchet, but loved it. (4136)

degbert (1148) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUN 21, 2014
Bottle. Pours a rich gold with a faint hint of pink and no head, though there is visible carbonation. Nose is quite strong, and definitely pear; nicely enough, itís the fruit, not some sort of bizarre pear candy. Semi-dry with good fruit flavor on the front of the mouth; manages to convey the slight creamy richness that a good pear has, and has a touch of spice to it. Finish is long, dry, and a little metallic. This is pretty good.

VinegarStroke (280) - Napa, California, USA - JUN 17, 2014
Bottle: Clear, light medium golden with a hint of brown, poor light head and no real lace. Simple vanilla oxidized nose. No bright fruit. Coarse and dead. Palate is dry, acid, carbonated and hollow. Lacks fruit flavor. Oak flavors make it look like candy. At least the anvil was bombed with artifact.

The aroma is very sweet and fruity with a slightly medicinal syrup quality. The appearance is light gold with no head. The taste is drier than the aroma but has the medicinal quality. The palate is thin but OK for the style. Overall worth a try maybe but not great.

bottle. golden with minimal head. this seems woefully underrated. sweet with some light apple tartness. big vanilla undertone. fantastic flavors. iím not sure where the vanilla is coming from but it works amazingly well, and is something that other cidermakers should do.

Bottle shared by Dr Silverworm. Poured clear amber color with a minimal sparkling white head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Medium green pear fruit aroma. Medium body with a smooth dry texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet pear flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.
