COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a style that originates in Köln (Cologne), Germany. The Kölsch style is light and dry, perfect for hot summer days. A unique yeast flavor dominates, often reminiscent of a spicy lager, and in some ways has wine-like character. Dried fruit flavors may include tangerine or apricot. Malted barley is sourced from the only commercial maltster in the Köln region today. Added wheat permeates the nose, enhancing the overall body of this refreshing brew.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a light gold color with a white head. Aroma is grainy and malty, fresh barley especially. Flavor follows in kind. Maybe a tiny hint of fruitiness, melon possibly. More of a blonde ale than a kolsch, I guess.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a golden color with a white head. Slightly darker than expected. The aroma is nice and crisp with grainy malt and good, bright herbal/lemony hops. the flavor is the same. Pale malt and bread with subtle noble hops. Fresh and balanced. Not overly hopped like many American versions of the style. Clean and well brewed. More please!

Draft at Toad in the Hole; sold as "’Uncle Jack’s’ Kolsch-Style Ale." Slightly foggy dull orange with low foam and streams of bubbles. Ridiculously pleasing dry, wafery malt and blueberry-mint-stonefruit hops in the aroma. Delicate sweetness cedes to a delicate bitter, delightful herbs, and a spot of English-style fruitiness. Very clean and finesseful finish.
