Commercial Description:
In early July, 2006 in commemoration of our 10th Anniversary, and the brewing of the 100th Batch of beer brewed at our new Pinnacle Peak brewery, Brewmaster Scott Yarosh wanted to do something different. The “Sonoran 100” is a naturally fermented Malt liqueur flavored with Honey and a hint of Maple. After the 9 week fermentation, we aged our “100” for several months before running the whole batch through our custom filter of toasted Maple and Oak wood chips. The result was a Bourbon-like brew that is best served in a small snifter or as a shot on the rocks for those that prefer it chilled. This 19.5 % ABV is the first brew in a continuing series of “Extreme Brews” the Sonoran Brewing Company has planed. Every 100 batches we will brew something wild! Keep an Eye out for It!

Corked bottle. Cloudy brown in color with little head. Sugary, smoky malty aroma. Malty fruity ashy flavor. Sweet.caramel notes. Smooth. Finish is smoky. Nice beer. Drinkable.

Lovely corked bottle, looks like a fancy tequila bottle. Purchased at Papago Brewing in Scottsdale, AZ. Poured a cloudy brown color. No head. Rich aroma of pear, brown sugar, alcohol, and subdued soy sauce. Thick, smooth mouth feel. Slightly sweet on the tongue. Tasted of hickory smoke, malty caramel, and a hint of bacon. This stuff would go well with North Carolina BBQ.

Thanks for bringing this to a tasting, General_Gao. The body was dark brown with no head. The aroma was rich and leathery with some caramel. This had an aged cellar type smell that made me think of oxidation. The taste had some smoky malts with a little bit of apples. There was also some dank cellar, but it dominated and detracted from the beer. You gotta love the bottle which made me think of maple syrup.

Generously shared by jjpm74 (who I think was trying to get rid of it... sorry I didn’t take more then, John). Poured a clear mahogany with no head. Strong aroma of smokey maple syrup, really powerful and candy-like, not necessarily bad but unexpected from a beer. Taste is maple syrup, some hot cheap whiskey, and the strangest sensation of drinking creamed corn. Somewhat nasty metallic finish with some ash. I give them props for trying, and they certainly tried to pass the beer off as elegant, but no packaging or hefty pricetag really ameliorates the underwhelming off-tasting mess inside.

Poured flat. Brown murky colored body. Lifeless. Nose of smoked meats, a hint of vanilla, licorice and a teeny bit of wood. Oh yeah, maple also. Body is surprisingly thin and of course lifeless on the palate cept for a bit of slickness not much happening. Flavors were a mix of smoked meat, even more intense than the aroma, sweet malts, alcohol, vanilla, wood, cedar and more alcohol. Finish is sweet and lasting unfortunately. Not sure what to make of this brew?? Kind of interesting but not. Dont believe aging would do it much good. Bottle 54 of 1K supplied by my tasting bud eaglefan538, Thanks Brian, what an expierence! Indeed.

An excellent looking flask (54 out of 1000) for a high octane beer, courtesy bockyhorsey. Pours an orangey brownish color, murky, yet not full of big sedimentation or anything. Dead flat beer, no sound at all upon opening the cork. No bubbles on the pour, other than 2 or 3 air entrapments like you’d get even when pouring water. Well, no problem, I wasn’t expecting much fizz at 19.5%/39 proof anyway. Aroma was maple, vanilla, oak, bourbon/liquor/whiskey, and a touch of meaty smoke as it warmed. The flavor followed suit, alcohol under all of the aroma, yet certainly not overwhelming. Mouthfeel was really quite watery/light given the level of alcohol and malt in this thing, very surprisingly thin in that sense. Not sticky at all. A good brew to split into 4 oz samples, as it took all 15-20 minutes to put down. Overall, the flavors didn’t meld great, but the lack of soy and sticky maple-ness kept this one well above the SA Triple Bock in quality. Thanks, Bill, for the opportunity on this one, definitely a cool experience, memorable, yet not an outstanding beer in itself (yet, my expectations were set appropriately and met, neat stuff).

Bottle courtesy of Flacoalto. Pours reddish and still and leaves a neck on the glass as a wine or spirit might. Smells of maple, vanilla, oak, some peaty qualities. Taste is very mapley with some woody undertones. Very sweet. The alcohol is noticeable on this but not as crazy as I thought it’d be. Much more of a spirit than a beer.

Bottle shared by OhioDad at C-Bus 6, thanks! This one was a bit bizzare, besides the fact it came in a tequila bottle. Reddish brown pour with no head to speak of. Aroma of smoke and smoked by-product meat along with some maple. Simliar flavors of heavy smoke and salted meat along with more maple charcter...it’s like a smokehouse breakfast in a bottle...sans eggs and thank god for that. Thick body, smokey throughout with a smokey finish...it’s a smokebomb for sure. Interesting for sure and the booze was hidden well...kinda like a smoked triple bock.
