Poured a medum brownish color with no head. Aromas of nuts, maple, vanilla, smoke, and caramel. Tastes of maple, caramel, nuts, and brown sugary sweetness. Some alcohol in the finish. Not what I expected, in a good way (but I’m not sure what I really expected!). hopscotch (5474), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

The nose is an intoxicating whirlwind of woodsy, smoky notes with a big whiskey blast. I’m picking up both Scotch and bourbon with a touch of diacetyl. The complex flavor is a swirl of essences; sweet whisky, wood, caramel, plum and molasses. Boozy and surprisingly well-bittered… despite all its malts and sugars, this brew actually leans toward the bitter side of balance. Full-bodied with a coarse, watery mouthfeel and no carbonation. Finishes alcoholic and dry. I’m going against the grain here, but I absolutely loved my sample. Thanks boboski! bu11zeye (5442), Frisco, Texas, USA

mahogany with viscous legs. Aroma of sweet dark caramel, raisins, and
plums with a touch of soy sauce, honey, and maple. Body starts fairly
full and oily with a mild sweetness, but not as much as expected with
some woodsy oak and maple flavors balancing out the dark fruits toward
a drier, slightly warming finish. Still hides its abv pretty well and
has good complexity throughout. A very interesting and unique brew. Cletus (5052), Connecticut, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Flacoalto. Pours reddish and still and leaves a neck on the glass as a wine or spirit might. Smells of maple, vanilla, oak, some peaty qualities. Taste is very mapley with some woody undertones. Very sweet. The alcohol is noticeable on this but not as crazy as I thought it’d be. Much more of a spirit than a beer. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 14, 2008 Bottle 621/1000. Still pour, no carbonation, as expected, of course. Color of dark maple/plum/brown. Some amount of booziness in the nose, some heavy maple, wood and sweetened bourbon notes, some nuts, toast, more maple… smells really good, actually. Silky, oily and moderately thick (just below heavy), with a strong note of dry wood, very strong flavor of maple-flavored bourbon, some nuts, breads, etc. Warming but not boozy or hot. Nice stuff, drinks like a dessert liqueur. BückDich (4832), McCall, Idaho, USA

Very bourbon like with tons of maple, honey and oak flying around. Extremely thin body and no carbonation so you want this on the rocks. Doesn’t seem like it belongs here, but I’d try it again.
