Commercial Description:
In early July, 2006 in commemoration of our 10th Anniversary, and the brewing of the 100th Batch of beer brewed at our new Pinnacle Peak brewery, Brewmaster Scott Yarosh wanted to do something different. The “Sonoran 100” is a naturally fermented Malt liqueur flavored with Honey and a hint of Maple. After the 9 week fermentation, we aged our “100” for several months before running the whole batch through our custom filter of toasted Maple and Oak wood chips. The result was a Bourbon-like brew that is best served in a small snifter or as a shot on the rocks for those that prefer it chilled. This 19.5 % ABV is the first brew in a continuing series of “Extreme Brews” the Sonoran Brewing Company has planed. Every 100 batches we will brew something wild! Keep an Eye out for It!

Bottle. Interesting. I thought it would be more full flsvored @ almost 20%, but it was rather light. Nice enough, but I wouldn’t seek it out again.

Shared by OhioDad at the Columbus tasting #6. Dark fruits lots of smoke and some alcohol as well in the aroma.Pours a very dark copper with very little head.Lots of smoke with a hint of alcohol in the flavor.Medium mouthfeel with the 19.5% alcohol hid fairly well.

Bottle shared by OhioDad at C-Bus 6, thanks! This one was a bit bizzare, besides the fact it came in a tequila bottle. Reddish brown pour with no head to speak of. Aroma of smoke and smoked by-product meat along with some maple. Simliar flavors of heavy smoke and salted meat along with more maple charcter...it’s like a smokehouse breakfast in a bottle...sans eggs and thank god for that. Thick body, smokey throughout with a smokey finish...it’s a smokebomb for sure. Interesting for sure and the booze was hidden well...kinda like a smoked triple bock.

Poured a dark brown color with no head at all. Aroma was of smokiness, maltiness, salami. All i got was straight salami on this one, which is pretty weird. This really wasnt all that sweet for being so strong. This also had a lot of maple to it and brown sugar.

Courtesy of Brent at Redlight Redlight and the Otown December tasting. Very murky light brown pour. Aroma of maple syrup. Flavor was WAYYYY smokey. Very much smoked ham and brown sugar. Too weird for my taste!

I was wondering when they would put this up on the site. I had this (bottle 125 out of 1000) at Popago in Tempe, Arizona with SmhnCabot and DrMatt. It poured like an uncarbonated monster- imposing but in an excited anticipatory kind of way. The taste was mostly of maple and a little bit of oak. I was not a huge fan of it, but it was a respectable effort and definitely very cutting edge. The taste was very much of malt liquor, so I guess they were right on in that aspect, but the overwhelming taste profile aside from the malt was maple and oak. Not bad, but not great

Reviewed 1/13/2009 (bottle #715?/1000): Pours a cloudy brown color body, no head. Very strong brown sugar maple aroma. A lot of honey. Alcoholy. Syrupy. Sticky syrupy taste. Gritty palate, sticky. Hides the alconol but tastes like fermented brown sugar. Not good. Aftertaste like a a liquor.
