4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ibrew2or3 (5741) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - NOV 17, 201222oz bomber pours clear deep gold with tall two minute dirty tan head of tawdry foam. The aroma is cool with various light colored skin fruits like apple, mango as well as cranberry to berry notes sliding around on top of floral hops and faint saison spicy yeastiness. Lots going on there. The taste has sort of a grainy start before sweet fruity notes and honey come to the surface. It then picks up like sage and rosemary and a touch of black pepper. Another dig at the aroma as it warms yields herbally rosemary, sage and black pepper as noted in the flavor. Maybe the taste influenced the aroma some or sharpened my aromatic focus. This is cool stuff with a tasty mix of esters and spices and herbs.

Thanks Dakine. Slightly clouded yellow pour with a white head. Aroma is basil and it reminds me of my herb garden. Taste is basilat the front followed by a light grapefruit flavor and some sweetness. Very refreshing beer. This beer leaves a clean palatte. Nice lacing. The grapefruit is more noticable in the finish. Makes me want a pizza or some pasta.

Bottle shared by Dr Silverworm. Poured hazy yellow color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy herbal and floral aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet & herbal flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where exceeded.

22oz bottle, thanks to MikedR. Shared 3 ways. Pours a hazy yellow - orange color. Thin white head, few loose dots of lace. Very interesting pungent grapefruit aroma, works very well with the earthy cooking herbs in here. Light body. Soft, smooth carbonation. Nice long zesty sweet herbal aftertaste. Big flavor, for such a light beer. Nice zesty sweet flavor, and savory taste with the herbs. I think this is an awesome light session ale. Really unique, tasty flavor for a beer, and a big amount of it too, for the ABV. Impressive.

Very light pour. Highly carbonated. Beautiful bouquet of basil on the nose. And, for what it's worth, that is the primary flavor. Lingering taste of mint. An interesting brew.

(22oz bomber thanks to bu11zeye) cloudy gold, ring of fine white bubbles. Nose of abundant italian sweet basil, ruby red grapefruit, brown sugar, and white table sugar. Taste of sweet basil, light ruby red grapefruit but not bitter at all, citrus zest, watermelon, really unique refreshing beer. Light and effervescent natural carbonation.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 tricyclist (444) - Spring Hill, Florida, USA - JAN 14, 2013
From notes - Sample pour of pale gold, light and hazy. Full white, very bubbly head. Nose is pizza, oregano, basil, Italian spices, and more pizza. Not much noticeable for hops or malt. Flavor is weird... Kinda good. Full spices again, a little salty.. Not bad. Light and crisp body with mild lacing.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 BuckNaked (1231) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JAN 9, 2013
22oz bottle: Pours with extreme carbonation, so much so that we had to wait about 20 min for the head to settle. While this can sometimes be an indication of infection, it is clear from the aroma and taste that there was no bacteria and/or wild yeast aromas or flavors and suggests simply the possibility of adding too much fermentables for krausening. The aroma is overwhelmingly basil and pepper, so much so that I can’t discern any other scents. Taste is sweet basil up front, spicy basil in the middle, and ends with grassy basil and a watery light cereal taste. Light-medium bodied, very high carbonation. I love Sonoran in general, but this beer is a total failure of a great idea to lightly accent a beer with basil that turned into overwhelming basil. There is definitely a refreshing quality to the basil flavor, but I would much prefer it not to completely dominate all other flavors.

22oz bottle, thanks BuckNaked. Enormous off-white head atop murky amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, basil. Taste is moderately sweet, basil, some caramel/bread, light grapefruit. Medium body, low carbonation. Not sure I’ll ever find myself looking for a basil bomb, but if it happens, I now know where to go.
