COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cordillera Blanca (kawr-dl-yair-uh) or White Mountains, loosely translated to English, is the newest additions to the Sonoran Brewing line of products. This White Chocolate Ale is light, refreshing, and completely unique! Like most fine chocolates, this brew has delicate aroma and the subtle taste of White Chocolate that is truly astonishing!

In short: A unusual white chocolate beer that goes far beyond white chocolate. Weird, very unique
How: Bottle 1L, sent my way as a bonus(!) by hellbilly. Thanks a lot Joshua
The look: Cloudy golden-yellow body topped by a large white head with low retention
In long: Intriguing and almost offsetting nose of band-aid, herbs and vanilla beans. Surprisingly little white chocolate on the nose although very present in the taste. Taste starts with some weird fluffy yeasty notes, almost funky, hard to describe. Then a scoop of vanilla ice-cream, some band-aid. Rather grassy. Medium acidity coming out of nowhere. After-taste surprised me with lots of white chocolate going down my throat. Fluffy body, tickling carbonation. I actually liked that weird beer. I don’t think I would had liked it if there was more beers like this but this one takes many extra points for originality. With all those black chocolate stouts it’s about time someone does a white chocolate one. White power!!!

22oz bottle. Poured a mostly clear medium golden yellow with an off white head that left some spotty lacing. Never has a beer with white chocolate, very interesting. Nose hold some cocoa powder, some faint spices. Flavor reminds me of the white chocolate covered raisins with out the raisins........

Poured straw yellow with giant white head. Nose is littered with cocoa. Taste is bizarre, not bad, but weird, body is just too thin for what tastes like silky white chocolate. Had this been a stout it might have been really good.

Bottle; interesting concept. Poured a little lighter than expected; a dull, honey gold with a big frothy head. Aroma of white chocolate, vegetables, must, herbs/spice, with a yeastiness that reminded me of the Bruery. Sort of lukewarm on the flavor. It was solid and interesting, but not bursting with flavor. Definitely pick up some chocolatey elements; hints of vegetable and yeast. Some sugariness. Aftertaste probably was the nicest element. Happy to have tried this.

Phoenix: Pours very light with virtually no head. The aroma is all white chocolate. The first sip is just like drinking sparkline white chocolate then you realize it is a beer as the light wheat and hops come on. Really smooth and light. Not an everyday drinker but a cool experience.

Thanks ratebeef. Pale clear no head wtf the smells like chocolate but its not dark. Cake batter. Chocolate up front followed a grain with a lingering chocolate. Bonus points for being unique and surprising but I wouldn’t drink this everyday.

Bottle courtesy of the Merrit Island tasting hosted by mcbackus. The bottle was gorgeous by the way. If you are into that kinda thing! Flavor was sweet tarts, sour apples, and lemons. I was very hard pressed to find ANY chocolate here. Not a fan of the sour type beers, however, this would be a good intro.

Sampled @ Backus’s Backdoor Bash courtesy of BeerLando.Ok first off this was a way cool cobalt blue , 1 liter, flip top bottle.I know it said whie chocolate but I was expecting the pour to be closer to a chocolate color, but it wasn’t.It poured a cloudy golden color with a soapy white head. The nose was funky with a slight detection of chocolate, citrus, and nuts.It definately was a unique beer.Flavor was funky with hints of chocolate and malts. The finish was tart.Definately an unusual beer.

Bottle shared by emacgee - thanks, Ethan! Surprisingly light pour for a beer with these kinds of flavors going on. It’s no lie: there’s a bunch of white chocolate in the nose, along with some nice cherry almond, like a good Italian cookie or something. The body is very thin, alas, but hard to resist the flavors, making it sad that they wash out a bit in the finish.
