3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Thanks Dakine. Deep black pour with a mocha head. Head is way too much. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt, bitter in a bad way, chalky, and thin for an imperial.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle, new label, thanks to a great trader. pours a silky, thick black capped by a massive (strangely large, actually), rocky head of dark khaki foam that quickly dissipates into tight rings of lace. aroma is great with rich, heavy roasted malts, black licorice, ash, and toasted marshmallows backed by subtle notes of tar, vinyl, and baker’s chocolate. flavor is delicious as well with rich, roasted malts, dark chocolate, raisins, and prunes backed by licorice candy, toffee, berry skins, and just a hint of peat smoke. palate is full bodied and creamy owing to the dense carbonation and finishes with a heavy handed dose of roasted black malts. overall, a deliciously intense imperial stout.

Bottle brought to me directly from the desert by Jon - thanks! Dark pour with off white head - not thick, but not watery either. Nose is dark fruit and roasted malt. A great combination of bitter chocolate with a hint of sweetness. I want this in a bourbon barrel - stat!

Craft Clerkenwell. Bottle shared. Opaque black - brown beer. Darkish tan head. Palate is light and airy and semi dry. Tangy dark malt, little dark chocolate and traces of coffee and soy. Mild dark fruits blending in with the tang. Very tangy but quite drinkable.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle at CBC Clerkenwell, London. Thanks to Kenneth. It pours black colour topped by one finger worth of frothy, light brown head. Aroma of roasty and lightly burnt malt, marshmallow, vanilla, licorice, earthy and resinous hops, dark chocolate, dry wood, dark fruit, brandy, subtle alcohol warmth. Flavor is similar, just less intense. Full body, smooth, soft. Overall, very smooth and tasty, loved it.

Vintage 2011 "Dia de los Muertos" bottle on 01/17/13
Pours deep black with a small ring of head. Tastes and smells surprisingly barrel-y. Big oak notes with some vanilla, chocolate and a biscuity presence on the finish. Medium to heavy mouthfeel. Sticky and a bit syrupy. Decent and flavorful but not a whole lot of depth.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is an ok stout, but not as good as its rating. Overly peaty with crazy licorice. Nice mouthfeel, attractive looking beer with a great amount of sweetness.
