Bomber. Pours pitch black, with a LOT of brown sugar colored foam. Came bursting out of the bottle in fact. Aroma is of malt and butterscotch. Some soy sauce and dark earthy, leathery flavors as well as a faint bitter unpleasantness that I’m not wild about. ABV burn is there, mouthfeel is buttery. Not bad. Definitely not great. Middling for the style.

22 oz. bottle from dcschiller- thanks again, Dave! 2011 special edition with a Day of the Dead skeleton lady on the label. Pours an inky, dark, opaque brown color with no head. The aroma suggests infection has set in- loads of ripened fruits, rainwater, molasses, copper, earth, and sugar. The flavor isn’t bad, though- roast, molasses, earth, vanilla, chocolate, and light ash. Medium-bodied and smooth, with low carbonation. I’m not sure how the flavor held up decently after the aroma was so off.

22oz bottle, thanks to radarsock - didn’t say "inebriator" anywhere on the bottle except for the description on the back. Total black color, with a very big nice brown head. Soft carbonation, more dry texture, big chewy body. Great thick lacing. Bitter taste, and sweetness. Aroma of molasses. Toasted burnt malts, some booze. Hint of chocolate and coffee. Pretty decent and reasonably well-done imperial stout, but I personally don’t care much for molasses-forward sweetness at all. It’s prominent here, but thankfully not so much as to make it too hard to drink. Slightly sticky in the finish.

650cl bottle @ ZZT IV. Pitch black opaque color, full sized creamy medium brown colored head. Smell malts, roastyness, coffee, some liquorice, pretty sweet actually. Taste malts, pretty sweet, some roastyness. Oily texture, medium to full body, medium carbo.

THanks to Weeare for sharing this one. 12 oz bottle from 2004 I think. Starts off looking pretty good- light blackish- deep brown with amber highlights and a nice tan head which fades. Aroma starts out with some coffee, chocolate and sweet caramel malts but ther eis a hint of sourness and lactic acid. The acidity is amplified in the flavor, probably due to the high levels of roasted malts and whatever was causing that lactic slightly sour smell (possibly bacteria?). Red wine, oak, vanilla, rum, and dark fruits like raisins are also noticed. The finish is a bit tart and the alcohol is detected. Ok overall, but not that great. Possibly past its prime.

Brewed and bottled by the Pinnacle Peak Patio, this brew pours black with a nice tan head. Aromas of wood, caramel, and vanilla. Roasted notes are lacking compared to the other sweet aromas. Flavor is a little like wet weeds. Disappointed in the lack of roasted and chocolate flavors. I think the hops are not well balanced with the malts. A catty like flavor and sour bitterness in the finish.

(12 oz bottle: Trader Joe’s in Pacific Beach, CA) Okay, I admit, I’ve had this beer for a long time, we’re talking a few years. It’s been in the back of my fridge the entire time. But I bought a 4-pack, and drank three right away. This fourth bottle has changed substantially from how I remember the first three. As I remember this beer, it was very sweet, moderately roast, lightly bitter, fairly alcoholic, kind of like an Imperial milk stout. This bottle has developed a bit of abrasiveness on the palate, with kind of a tangy, cidery mouthfeel, slightly sour and woody. There’s still a fair amount of sweetness, but it doesn’t dominate like in the other bottles. Moderate roast, bitterness and a gentle smoke in the finish. Black as tar on the pour, but with a very small head that can’t even cover the entire surface of the beer. Fades to, well, nothing, not even a small ring. I probably owe this beer a retry if I can ever get this beer again. I haven’t seen it in awhile.
