Draught at Kamikaze. Deep nose, chocolate, berries, raisin; rich, fruity, and malty. A good orthodox dubbel nose. Orange-brown with lace. Rich malty flavor, not too sweet. Great chocolate fudge and dried fruits. Light, soft carbonation. Very nice.

650ml bomber bottle pours a deep amber color with finger and a half of off-white head that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is light chocolate with some dark pitted fruits and light yeasty notes. Taste is chocolate malt and dark fruity sweetness with a mild hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied with abundant carbonation providing a pleasant sensation on the palate. A pretty nice brew for the style and recommended to sample.

(22oz bottle thanks to bu11zeye) clear medium brown, offwhite bubbled head around the edges. Nose of toasty raisins, cream, banana peel, corn. Taste of raisin, toasty, not very sweet, rum, not super interesting either.

Bomber. Pours a murky reddish dark brown color with a thin cap of off-white foam. The aroma is a mix of banana bread, burnt caramel, fig and Belgian yeast. Lots of dark fruit and caramelized sugar sweetness in the taste along with some clove, chocolate and cinnamon notes. Also a strong bready malt presence throughout. The body is slightly thick and creamy with soft carbonation while the finish is dry and malty with a subtle alcohol kick. Overall, a solid interpretation of the style that could use a little more active carbonation and complexity.

This tastes just fine, it just tastes nothing like a Dubbel. Brown, but completely transparent and if tasted blind, I would swear it was Shiner Bock. Shiner Bock isn’t objectionable, but it isn’t a Dubbel.

Bottle:   Garnet, deep, thin sandy head, sparce lacing.   Somewhat of a figgy nose, slight dark pitted fruit, a bit of grape popcicle and moderate breadiness.   Very much the same on the tongue, bready, underlying dark pitted fruit that is fig oriented, but the backside has this weird grape popcicle like flavor.   Moderate body and mouthfeel, a little fizzy on the tongue.   Not a heavy example.   Lingering breadiness, a little sweaty, moderate sweetness, fig is there but the grape popcicle seems to dominate on the back.   Not bad, different, but not as complex, musty, or fruit oriented as most Belgians.

Clear brown with a reasonable pale head. Aroma is banana, chocolate, raisins, damp wood. Medium body, malty with a slight tang in the aftertaste. A little thinner on the palate than I was expecting. Flavours are chocolate, toffee, dates, banana, cloves. Very enjoyable, one of the best new world dubbels I have encountered.
