Reddish-brown colour. Gentle carbonation and barely any head. The aroma has a little bit of plastic, alcohol, date, dark fruits. Slightly sweet, but not sticky, with a dark fruit character. Tastes a bit too filtered, but there are some good dark sugar notes.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours ruddy amber with a slight head. Aromas of banana, clove and yeast/spice. Full bodied. Flavor is spicy roast caramel. Smooth. Still think thereís underlying banana and clove. Itís pretty balanced, and thereís something keeping all the malt from being very sweet. Itís really tasty. Maybe itís complicated. Trust me that itís delicious, even if words fail me.

Sampled on tap at SIB, pours dark orangey red. Aroma of Belgian yeast, candied sugar and banana. Flavour brings out heaps of banana, caramel and candied sugar. Solid dubbel, but doesnít touch the Belgian brewersí attempts at it.

Draught at Kamikaze. Deep nose, chocolate, berries, raisin; rich, fruity, and malty. A good orthodox dubbel nose. Orange-brown with lace. Rich malty flavor, not too sweet. Great chocolate fudge and dried fruits. Light, soft carbonation. Very nice.

Bottle: † Garnet, deep, thin sandy head, sparce lacing. † Somewhat of a figgy nose, slight dark pitted fruit, a bit of grape popcicle and moderate breadiness. † Very much the same on the tongue, bready, underlying dark pitted fruit that is fig oriented, but the backside has this weird grape popcicle like flavor. † Moderate body and mouthfeel, a little fizzy on the tongue. † Not a heavy example. † Lingering breadiness, a little sweaty, moderate sweetness, fig is there but the grape popcicle seems to dominate on the back. † Not bad, different, but not as complex, musty, or fruit oriented as most Belgians.

22. Pours a clear rubied dark amber with a loose off-white head. Big tangy nose, lots of red apple skin, a little bit of barnyard in the far, far distant background, and some wet hay and grass. Interesting combination for a dubbel. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Red apple skins, brown sugar, and some wet grass on the mid palate. Not an easy one to decipher but surprisingly appealing, given the description. Nice stuff and would drink again. Seems like Sound are on to something.
