COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A tropical thunderstorm of Northwest hops against a sky of clean, dry malt. Crisp yet eminently satisfying for the extreme hop lover, Humulo Nimbus has a balance that brings it all together into one seriously quaffable Double IPA

I LOVE HOPS!!!!!! Light crystal clear reddish brown complete with a thick creamy cap floating on top. The smells of this smells good like good smells. Hoppy and smooth, tons of caramel, cream cheese, candied pine??? I think i just made that up. This smell, this smell, this smell is da shit!! Taste is powerful, sweet malts, melon, lemon, massive resin, astringent hiding in the finish. WOW!! This is awesome! So flavor!! Mango, possible orange. So very awesomely bitter. Dear GOD this random beer i picked up is so good. This episode of American Dad is screwed up beyond belief. I like this beer and it has gone straight to my head and then some.

Props to my local favorite DIPA from Sound Brewing in Poulsbo. Rich, sweet malt backbone to balance heaps of delicious hops. Could use a few more IBU’s. Dry hopped to the point of earthiness. Love this beer.

22oz Bottle purchased from the brewery. Pours a hazy brown with not much head. Full hoppy bitterness and a little bit citrusy. The hop flavors linger afterwards and there's no harshness to it at all. A great double IPA.

Serving: from bottle--purchased at The Beer Junction. Aroma: moderate-to-heavily piney hoppy. Appearance: large, frothy, off-white, initial head with good lacing and mostly diminishing longevity. Cloudy, orange body. Taste: lightly bitter initial flavor and moderate-to-heavily bitter finish with long duration. Palate: full body with watery texture and soft carbonation. Overall: interesting. I didn’t notice any bitterness in the initial flavor, but it quickly kicks in and becomes increasingly bitter over time. It’s never harshly bitter like many beers in this class. Exceptional.

Crisp, hazy and nicely tinted bronze and amber coloured body with a bit of a ruby glow at the bottom with a perfect, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pungent pineapple, citrus, piney and sweet hops with a lot of honey and resin noticeable and quite a bit of alcohol. Full-bodied; Super malty at first with a resinous bite of hops, some pineapple and floral hop notes also come through, but a lot of sugars and even more alcohol. Aftertaste shows a lot of all these tastes with a hint of fruit, some piney bitterness and a great sweet finish complete with the hop flavours really going strong. Overall,a very nice Imperial IPA, I just would have preferred a smaller format bottle, but I know this is what they do out West, and at least they charge a respectable price. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington on 11-January-2013 for US$7.49 sampled at home in the real Washington on 06-February-2013 two days before leaving for Washington state again.

Poured from the faucet at The Eastside Tav in Oly, WA. I am horrible at describing tastes, so I will just put this in the stanky-sticky-resiny hop category and leave it at that.

On draft at College Inn Pub. Aroma is heavy with malty sweetness (caramel, candy). Resin from the hops. Clear amber color, minimal head. The "malt backbone" here really asserts itself and actually dominates the taste for me. Hop bitterness is present on the finish, but is overpowered by the malty sweetness. Medium/full body, slick, with average carbonation. Overall: A little sweet for my taste, and a full pint feels like about 4oz too many for how much of this I want to drink in one sitting.

Pours deep amber with a frothy head that dies down to a thin film. Aroma of orange and apricot. Sweet caramel flavors followed by a resin bitterness and citrus dryness. Not thrilled with this. Too sweet.

22oz bottle from Bottleworks in Seattle, WA. Pours a very deep amber colored body with a finger-width, frothy, light tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is well hopped and fairly sweet. Big, sticky toffees and caramels with lots of orange citruses, earthy pine resins, florals, and tropical fruits. Flavor is similar. Firm caramels and toffees with a medium sweetness, but well balanced by the hops and never too cloying. Orange citruses and tropical fruits with some florals and earthy pine resins. Finishes dry and fairly bitter, but balanced with lots of fruits and a nice malt sweetness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-full body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid DIPA. Plenty of malts keeping this fairly sweet, but dry and balanced by lots of fruity hops with a nice bitterness. Good beer.
