A towering thunderstorm of Northwest hops against a sky of clean, dry malt. Crisp yet eminently satisfying for the extreme hop lover, Humulo Nimbus has a balance that brings it all together into one seriously quaffable Double IPA. *** 2012 US Beer Open Gold Medal Winner. *** 2012 NABA Bronze Medal Winner. 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating but was purchased recently. Pours lightly hazy orange amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of huge mango, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, tangerine, passion fruit, caramel, floral, and light herbal. Fantastic aromas with huge tropical fruit notes; it is unlike any other DIPA I have had in the past. Big hop sweetness; but it is so inviting even without the pine resin I am so used to having in an IPA. Taste of big orange, pineapple, mango, caramel, pine, grapefruit, passion fruit, tangerine, orange rind, floral, honey, and herbal spiciness. Nice amount of spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tropical fruits, citrus, citrus rind, pine, caramel, floral, herbal, and grass on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic hop complexity and malt balance; zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly creamy, slick, and crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic DIPA. Huge hop complexity and balance; very smooth and easy to sip on. This was truly unique as a DIPA, and highly enjoyable.

Tap at Watering Hole. Huge peach and citrus forward nose. The peach is strong in this one, with a touch of melon as well. Well-balanced with just enough malt character to keep it together and let the hops shine. Finish is bitter but with more peach. Very nice.

Aroma is passion fruit, grapefruit, honey and clove. Taste is sweet fresh tasting malts paired with deep hop flavors like clove, citrus and passionfruit. Finishes quite bitter with tanin and light liquor burn. Appearance is a clear amber with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.
