A towering thunderstorm of Northwest hops against a sky of clean, dry malt. Crisp yet eminently satisfying for the extreme hop lover, Humulo Nimbus has a balance that brings it all together into one seriously quaffable Double IPA. *** 2012 US Beer Open Gold Medal Winner. *** 2012 NABA Bronze Medal Winner. On draft at College Inn Pub. Aroma is heavy with malty sweetness (caramel, candy). Resin from the hops. Clear amber color, minimal head. The "malt backbone" here really asserts itself and actually dominates the taste for me. Hop bitterness is present on the finish, but is overpowered by the malty sweetness. Medium/full body, slick, with average carbonation. Overall: A little sweet for my taste, and a full pint feels like about 4oz too many for how much of this I want to drink in one sitting.

Cloudy amber, small beige head.Rich malt/musty hop nose.Big bodied palate, sweet fore, balanced mid.Huge musty bitter and citrus hop finish. Big malt backbone provides great balance. By far the best from this brewer

Smell citrus and malty. Pours dark amber, cloud, white head. Hop flavour to start, woody notes (but not piney, resin), grapefruit peel, slightly sweet and bitter. Big body, which is balanced, not too sweet, not too bitter, and not too interesting. It is okay.

Aroma: exotic fruits, mango, peaches, resin. Appearance: slightly hazy gold, small, creamy, white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: some caramel flavours, exotic fruits again, strong resin, gets quite bitter. Overall: nice IIPA, maybe a intense in resin. Pint at Taphouse Grill Downtown, Seattle, WA.

Draught at Beer Wars. Lovely hoppy nose, rich pine flavor and green citrus with a tropical edge, crisp malty backbone, dry finish. Excellent stuff, nicely balanced, smooth and hoppy, one of the better Washington brews I have tried so far.

Hazy orange color out of the bottle with a creamy cream colored head that left attractive sticky lacing on the glass. Nose of tropical fruit and candied citrus. This is a nice, chewy IIPA with a syrupy mouth feel. Toffee and caramel sweetness with dried tropical fruit, candied grapefruit rind and a bit of pine in the finish. Nice warming alcohol in the finish.

Bottle (22oz): Dark orange with off white head. I do not taste the tropical fruit others do. I taste the pine and a little bit of a metallic finish. It is very good, but not sure if it will be a regular purchase. Can not find a bottled on date but I had it less than 1 month.

Man this is good. Hazy orange/amber pour with a foamy off-white head. Delicious aroma of mangos and citrus fruits. Flavour of pine, citrus fruit, resin, hops, etc. Delicious and incredibly well balanced. My only (slightly) negative comment would be that this is much less bitter than the typical DIPA.

On Tap at the Poulsbo tasting room Slightly hazy deep golden. Nice off white head. BIG resinous hop aroma and lots of sticy juicy hop flavors. Plenty of residual sugars but are balanced nicely with plenty of tasty IBUS. The high rating is well deserved. Very nice. This and the Belgian Blonde are the best here.

No head, nice palate. Smooth hop bitterness, hints of lemon grass and metal, but not much else going on. Nothing special for a double.

A great double IPA. Lots of sweet malt and corn syrup on the nose. Malts and spicy hops on the tongue. This is delicious.
