COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Monk’s is balanced like the best Belgian strong golden ales, yet has flavor and aroma hops that are as aromatic and intense as any imperial IPA. Double dry-hopped and fermented with our aromatic yeast strain, Monk’s has an intensely tropical hoppy nose and yet drinks easy and smooth without the intense bitterness that is normally associated with such a hoppy brew.

This was a great strong ale with an intense citrus aroma. Taste is mostly sweet but has the hop flavours and bitterness of an ipa. This one took me by surprise. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear golden yellow pour with small white head. Aroma of pine needles, fruit, caramel and bread dough. Taste of peach, apricot, caramel, yeast and a strong hop presence and finish. Full bodied, medium carbonation. Pretty good beer but a little cloying.

12oz pour at the Underground in Edmonton. Very tastey yeast profile. Good nose. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Lagerboy (1075) - British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 6, 2014
Bomber. Mostly clear orange yellow, yeast chunks, firm white foamy head mostly lasts. Pungent fruity hop aroma, apricot and pineapple. Intense tropical fruity hop forward taste, very low bitterness, solid milder caramel malts. Average carbonation, medium-full bodied, more aggressively hopped. A stronger, bigger beer, yet ABV remains well hidden. Delicious. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

DuffMan (6172) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 21, 2013
Bottle, shared with Ian and others. Hazy yellow gold, foamy white head that laces thickly. Coniferous hop aromatics, lightly sour undertones, some lemon rind. Green young coniferous hop flavour with a strong estery presence and sweet candyish malts. Nice enough (Ian really dug this one).

bmerz (666) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - DEC 13, 2013
Bottle. Pours light golden with some lace. Aroma is peach, green apple, honey, pear skin. Flavor are these with more honey, pale malt one dimensional, hop forward notes mostly of pine, fairly dry bitter end. Feel is watery in body and sticky on the palate. OK....nice, sure, but doesn’t work.

Glouglouburp (5929) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 4, 2013
In short: A harsh uber-sweet golden ale without interest.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed when many months of age, bottle from mcberko, thanks a lot Matt.
The look: Almost clear amber-golden body topped by a medium off-white head.
In long: Nose is sweet, toasted, somewhat estery, surprising spruce, lots of phenols, some caramel. Body doesn’t feel very rich for a beer of this size. Taste is a let down. A load of toasted candy sugar and then some more. A strong peppermint flavor with some phenols on the side. Crunchy sweet dried fruits. Honey and a bit of caramel. Mild alcohol heat. A lot of spruce that leads to a ’sprucy’ bitter finish. Not sure what they were aiming for with this beer, it has all the downsides of a monster beer without the richness and depth. I think I’m abnormally polite even by Canadian standard when I said “excuse me” to myself after drinking this beer.

Cirrhosis (1175) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 22, 2013
Crystal clear amberish honey brown with a rocky cap, looks off for the style. Smells weirdly neat. Way hoppier then I was expected, there is so much going on in the nose but I can’t name any of it. I like it, I like it alot. WHAT ARE THESE SMELLS?? Heavilly carbonated!! Same problem with taste......... so much going on but can’t name a thing. Hoppy it is, I guess Belgian yeast, peach, things and stuff. This completly reminds me of Laganetus SUCKS. Proper spelling is hard and is not important. I can drink the shit out of this beer. What the hell are the flavours??? I’m stuck on fuzzy peach, yeast, and awesome. I will buy more.
