COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Monk’s is balanced like the best Belgian strong golden ales, yet has flavor and aroma hops that are as aromatic and intense as any imperial IPA. Double dry-hopped and fermented with our aromatic yeast strain, Monk’s has an intensely tropical hoppy nose and yet drinks easy and smooth without the intense bitterness that is normally associated with such a hoppy brew.

This beer pours a hazy dark golden-orange color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of yeast, fruit and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of fruit, herbal hops and yeast. The finish is fruity with an earthy yeast aftertaste. Above average overall.

650ml bomber pours a golden orange color with a 2 finger white head that has good duration and leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is light fruits with some spices and floral hop notes. Taste is a spicy hop bitterness with a light fruity and malty sweetness with a bit of yeast in the finish. Alcohol is hidden very well. Medium to heavy body with tons of carbonation. A truly fine example of a strong Belgian ale.

Draught at Kamikaze. Bright, glowing gold-orange with lace. Big grassy hops in the nose, citrus, light bread, sweet orange. Tasty. Lightly sweet at first but a dry finish, grassy, citrus zest, some pineapple, peaches; nice balance. Light but persistent Belgian fizzyness. Great stuff.

beerproject (108) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 20, 2012
Aroma is tropical fruity and malty sweet. You have to give it a good swirl though, as the carbonation is low. Taste is surprisingly smooth for the 10% abv, with a smooth bitterness throughout and notes of tropical hoppiness, caramel maltiness, warming alcohol and that characteristic barleywine like flavor from a huge OG. The finish is smooth and leaves you with a lingering bitterness.

Bottle. Golden orange pour with a wisp of a white head. Mentholyptic aroma, Belgian yeastiness, lavender and pot pourri. Flavor follows aroma up pretty much to a t. Enjoyable beer.

750ml bottle from letspour. Yellow pour with thin white head that leaves a ring. Aroma is grain and sugar citrus. Tastes are bubblegum, peach and tropical fruits, cloves, belgian yeast and wet grass. Strong bitter follow-through. Little sweet for my tastes, but well constructed brew.
