Dry hopped, and fermented with an aromatic Belgian yeast strain, Monk’s Indiscretion has an intense tropical hoppy aroma and flavor, with balanced bitterness, and is scarily drinkable for such a strong beer. *** 2012 NABA Bronze Medal Winner. *** 2011 US Beer Open Gold Medal Winner. *** 2011 Seattle Caskfest 3rd place People’s Choice. I loved this beer when I had it a couple weeks ago at Brouwer’s Cafe in Seattle. I didn’t notice a lot of Belgian styling, but for an Imperial IPA, I liked it a lot. The dimly lit environment makes me hesitant to comment on the appearance, but the aroma was beautiful and citrusy. The palate was creamy and resinous, but not overwhelmingly so. Overall, I thought this beer was dynamite stuff. I hope I get to try more from this new Washington state brewery.

Apricot and florals. Golden pour with good head and lacing. Sweet and sour finish. Good mix, easy drinking. My kind of blonde Belgian strong.

Bottle (22oz ): Light golden with no real head. Belgian yeast aroma. Taste is sweet and somewhat fruity. Not much bitterness. Alcohol hits in the end, but easy drinking.

Very sublime. Surprisingly easy drinking considering the ABV. Belgian yeast. Some dark fruits. Sorta quad lite, with a hint of trippel.

22oz bottle pours out a hazy orangeish topped with a sand head. Nose is belg yeast spice candy sugar and some hops. Taste is more of the belg yeast spice banana clove and some sweetness.

A very nice Belgian that stands out amoung others. Very sweet and earthy for a Belgian with nice floral notes, but it also has the expected yeastiness and layers of complexity. Delicous!

Had several buddies over for beer and ribs. Sampled a number of brews throughout the evening. This immediately stood out, even after my palate was fatigued with rich food and beer. Outstanding floral character. To a man, from the neophyte beer drinker to more discerning palate, they enjoyed this beer at my table.

On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours clear dark orange copper with thin lacy white head. Aroma is sweet earthy oaky malt with sweet Belgian yeast notes and a hint of dry hops. Taste is similar: malt is sweet although fairly mild given the abv here. Funky yeast notes mid-palate are quickly overwhelmed by dry earthy hops. Oaky, lightly sweet, dry, and ultimately clean on the finish. Interesting hybrid of a Belgian strong ale and IPA - sort of surprised this isn’t done more often, this is good.

Aroma is clove, saison-like yeastiness, lemon grass and light sweet malts. Taste is a fairly well balanced malt profile. Slight honey and dark fruits. Appearance is a clear orange with a pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

On tap. Sweet candy flavours, belgian yeast. some heat but hides the ABV pretty well. Pretty good for the style.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty orangey color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of tropical fruits with some unrefined grainy notes is not as I was expecting. Taste is also dominated by fruity tropical hops notes with some unrefined grainy notes and some light residual sugar notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation with no real apparent alcohol. Not bad but something appeared to be a bit off with the malt bill.
