I love porters. This one is right where I like it. Not over the top but still dark and slightly rich. Toasty malt flavor with very light taste of hops.

Draft at the brewery. Pours clear burgundy brown with a thin, beige head. Tastes like burnt malt, smokey wood, nutty, earthy, and light ash. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like burnt malt, ashy wood, dark coffee, and earth.

Deep brown with a creamy, light tan head. Aroma is chocolate, light coffee, toasted biscuit, light caramel, Very inviting. Medium, oily bodied. Flavor comes across more roasted than the aroma lets on. Chocolate, toast, some light coffee, a bit of dark fruits. Has a slightly tangy, earthy finish. A very well thought out and executed porter. Would be happy to have this again and again. (#2500)

Rating #1342. Sampled this out to staff and colleagues at Parkland Liquor in Stony Plain 02.12.2014. Pours a bubbly brown with a weak white cap, little retention. Aroma is cocoa, coffee, earth. Palate is mild cocoa, espresso - sweetness curbed by lovely earth bitterness pronounced. Great porter.

On tap at Sound, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malts that dominate. Flavour is bland, with toasted malt and bready notes. Pretty bland and weak, but no off-notes. Okay.

Draught at Nakanoshima. A solid porter, quite rich and chocolatey with smokey and herbal notes, hints of raisin, nutty dry finish. Good stuff.

Bottle. shared with Parksy and others at the lake, May long weekend. Dark brown, copper highlights, lasting tan head. Bitter chocolate, roast, light fruit acids in the finish. We had a few porters this weekend, not all good, but this one was pretty solid.

Large frothy beige head atop a deep brown body. Somewhat muted nose, minor Ash. Brown ale with very dry palate. Interesting but not terribly Stroh to style. Purchased at Metro Liquors for ~$8.

Bomber. Amber hued clear dark brown, mostly fading tan foam. Darker roast aroma, some chocolate. Roasty malty taste, bittersweet chocolate, some coffee bean, mild Noble influence. Average carbonation, medium bodied, moderately hopped. Very well put together, tasty and easy to pound. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)
