4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From tap at Chuck's. Delicious Belgian stout. Bittersweet chocolate and toasty malts. But also an insanely interesting wine like character. I've never experienced this in a stout and I love it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
650ml brown bottle. Black pour with a thin caramel coloured skiff of foam that near vanishes. Nose has roast and dark coffee notes. Taste has rich coffee and roasted malts with dark chocolate, light cherry and tobacco. Aftertaste has roast and chocolate syrup. Some dark malt bitterness and a bit from hops. Light yeast note. Medium to full bodied, carb is a bit relaxed. The Belgian influence is a bit too slight for me, doesnít seem to add much/do enough for this brew. That said, I find this to be an enjoyable Imperial stout, worth having a bomber of.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep pitch black body with a thin, fast-dying oily light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, anise, pit fruits, licorice and some light spices with coffee and cream tucked away - very nice. Full-bodied; Deep rich roasted malt flavour with a ton of anise and even more alcohol and assertive coffee bitterness - pungent and long-lasting. Aftertaste shows a pungent licorice, anise and deep coffee, alcohol and metallic bitterness - super strong flavours and nothing mild about this at all. Overall, a nice and very pungent beer with a ton of flavours and some sweetness, but a bit too bitter - try aging it for a few years and perhaps the flavours will mellow out some. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington (State) on 10-February-2013 for US$9.99 sampled at home in New Paltz, New York on 28-November-2013 - but needs even more than ~10 months aging, for sure.

Pound for pound, Iím finding that Sound Brewery just might be the best overall brew house in the state of Washington. Still have a few brews to check off the portfolio, so perhaps a premature statement. I also canít wait to check them off, as everything has been ultimately satisfying.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black colour, red hue, slight tan head. Aroma of liquorice, drop, dark cacao and soy sauce. Liquorice flavour, light sour note, roasted malt and red fruits. Very fizzy. Finish malts, caramel, red fruits and coffee notes. Bit too much CO2 coming free, hides the flavour and aroma somewhat. Still, more than decent brew.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark cherry, chocolate nose. Toffee juice flavor, herbal hops, licorice, bitter coffee finish. Nice dark brew, alcohol is quite well hidden, but maybe lacks a bit more flavors for such a strong one.
