COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You are holding a pure artisan craft ale, free of any additives. This is a real ale. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, so a small amount of sediment in the bottom of the bottle is natural. South Plains RIP is made with North American hops to balance the huge amounts of English malts that give this dark ale it’s complex and generous flavor. Imperial Porter is a style that is higher in alcohol, bearing more flavor than traditional porters. Store this beer in a cool, dark place. When it’s young it’s very heartwarming. As it ages it will get smoother and smoother.

Bottled (thanks omhper). Turned out to be a bigtime gusher. Pitch black colour with a mediumsized brown head. Aroma is ashes, ripe dark fruits, some slight tart wooden notes. Flavour is mild tart wood, dark fruits, nuts and some herbal notes. Wellbalanced as such, but spritzy carbonation. Also has some mild toasted and liquoricelike not-too-sweet notes in the finish.

Bottle shared with (and courtesy of) the brewers of Bådin. Has a black colour with a small, light brown head. Nice roasted aroma with nuts, brownies and dark chocolate. More roasted malt in the flavour along with some wood. Strange in a way. Has a rich mouth feel, and a light to medium bitterness. A nice roasted ale but is a bit weird and unbalanced in my opinion.

courtesyof Per - gusher ... pours a black beer under a solid creamy beige foam; roasted aroma of black chocolate, cacao and walnuts; highly carbonated and full-bodied, some fair sweetness and a late and solid bitterness, light residual sugars, licorice and tons of dark chocolate in the finish

Fizzy crown. Fruity, somewhat smoky aroma. Very smoky flavour of burnt wood and hard toasted malt. Spicy aftertaste.

Bottle 33cl from Henrik thanks, a dark beer with medium brown head. Nose is unctuous on dark chocolate, coffee and roasted coffee beans notes. Aroma is again on dark caramel, dark chocolate coffee, over roasted coffee, light licorice, quite creamy, very nice body. Finish is again on the same dark malt direction with light ashes notes, well done beer.

Bottle @ Home. Fuckin gusher that pours black with a brown head after it setles down. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, light smoke. Aroma of hard roasted malts, smoke, dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, little dark fruits. Medium body, lively carbonation, dry roasted finish. 060813

Bottled from Systembolaget Black with a large, beige head. Dark roasted in both aroma and flavour. Chocolate, figs, coffee... Vinous and some sourish notes.

Bottle, bought @ systembolaget, hyltebruk. Mega gusher... All over the living room :-( the 10 cl that went into my glass is black with a thin beige film head. Aroma has roasted malts, dark chocolate, light metallic, some tar and mild acetone. Medium carbonation, fairly dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has quite a bit of viniousness, dark roasted malts and some plums. Light smoky towards the end. Also feels a bit light in the finish.

250ml, draught at Bishop Arms. Naked surface, only a ring to the edge of the glass. Black as pitch. Dark malty smell with vanillas sweetness. Flavour of dark roasted malts and anise offset by notes of pine needles towards a bittersweet tail. Masked alcohol. Surprisingly easy to drink. Likable without further excitements (Copenhagen, 22.05.2013).
