You are holding a pure artisan craft ale, free of any additives. This is a real ale. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, so a small amount of sediment in the bottom of the bottle is natural. South Plains RIP is made with North American hops to balance the huge amounts of English malts that give this dark ale it’s complex and generous flavor. Imperial Porter is a style that is higher in alcohol, bearing more flavor than traditional porters. Store this beer in a cool, dark place. When it’s young it’s very heartwarming. As it ages it will get smoother and smoother.

Foam is quite tremendous in this Imperial Porter from the Swedish brewery South Plains. Thick and nougat colored foam is a tremendous damper for flavor, but a little sharp tones coffee break anyway through the foam layer. The beer is thick, almost oily, but release a strong taste of good coffee and light tones of dark bitter chocolate. It is a powerful porter with very high volume and filling pleasant taste of dark rye bread. This is not a porter who I would recommend to beer drinkers who not normally like porter. It is a powerful and aggressive porter who offers everything a real porter fan is seeking. The coffee is the main theme, chocolate and some licorice follows in the background. It is definitely a porter who is among the fiercest I have so far tasted. I seems to like the strong and almost chewable stouts / porters, but I must admit that I love it.

Good scent. The taste is heavy and hard but also really good. The aftertaste is endless and really good. This is awesome. A real tough guy, I can tell. But saying that you should try this beer.

Bottle from Systembolaget (special order) Very dark brown, lively carbonation. Cocoa, tar, molasses. Fairly light, elegant. Dry finish. The light body mwans there is some warming alcohol, but it is by no means intrusive.

33 cl, flaske, 10,2 % ABV, BB 15/08/2023, købt af laboko's kollega i Systembolaget Hansa i Malmö, Sverige - tak! 10. marts 2015.

Black color with generous brownish creamy head. Very nice aroma of roasted malts and quality coffee; and hops; the alcohol doesn’t disturb either. Smooth mouthfeel, with a good structure; the evident roasted malt structure is blending with good chocolate; the general feeling is quite roasty and dry; good hopping, both for the strength and for the contribution of resins. The final is good, not just the roasted malt in it, but also the claw of the hops.
Very good and smooth modern example.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2013) Opaque black colour with creamy, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with strong black coffee, liquorice, cocoa and black rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of espresso, liquorice, salmiac, cocoa and a creamy finish with a generous cocoa bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Very well balanced for its strength. Very nice beer.

Smak och doft av kakao, choklad. Krämig, rund och len. Väldigt balanserad med trevlig arom och en eftersmak som dröjer sig kvar. Gott.
