Brown black pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is minty and not much more. Flavor is sweet mintiness and a hinto chocolate. A bit thin and fizzy. Not bad but not my cup of tea.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 RB1 (115) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - MAY 31, 2011
Bottle sampled at Daknole’s Memorial Day Tasting (Thanks Sparky). Pours very dark, minimal head. Aroma is dominated by mint. Taste is bourbon, coffee, and overpowering MINT. Finish is minty coffee. For me, the mint is just not a good fit for a bourbon barrel stout. Too sweet. Mint should stay at the Kentucky Derby; in Julips, where it belongs.

Dark pour. Coffee, mint, bourbon, raisin pour. Flavor is much the same and incredibly unique wow.

Bottle generously shared by Sparky...thanks, my friend! Aroma of used coffee grounds, caramel, and a little vanilla. Flavor is similar. Fairly smooth...no off flavors. Medium mouthfeel.

Thanks to Ughsmash for this rare tick... dark brown body with a light tan head, forms a ring, no lace... the nose is awesome, totally nails mint chocolate chip ice cream, no coffee or bourbon, the mint is a touch to strong comes off a bit chemically but I’m digging it... the taste is lighter, coffee with more mint, a little more balanced but too light so its a touch disappointing... worth trying if you love mint but other than that you can skip it

Bottle… Pours dark brown with a small, creamy, taupe head. Good retention. As expected, the bouquet is a bit odd – herbal sassafras, dark chocolate and a whisper of sourmash whiskey. Medium-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is chocolaty with a touch of mint and a mild, herbal, sarsaparilla component. Tilts just a tad toward the sweet side of balance. Things wrap up with nice mocha and a subtle kiss of acidity.

Bottle - Pours deep brown with a rapidly dissipating frothy tan head. Nose is light bourbon sweetness with pronounced creme de menthe, chocolate, and a bit of coffee grounds. Real smooth, with a nice medium roast, creme de menthe, irish creme, a bit of sweet oaky bourbon. A bit of a flat finish, with a bit of coffee and some sweet syrupy flavors mingling with the oak. A little thinner than I expected, and not a ton of carbonation. Going to have to agree with some of the others that it tastes a bit artificial, but it still works pretty well. For one pour, it’s pretty pleasant.

Bottle, pours deep black with thin tan head. Aroma has notes of peppermint patty to a tee, lots of peppermint, bordering on vegetal, with chocolate, slight vanilla, coffee, slight notes of caramel. Taste is slightly vegetal, but not as minty chocolate as the aroma, with more complex notes of roast, toffee, burnt sugars along with the mint and chocolate. Coffee is more prevalent. Overall a very interesting beer, creative and unique, but feel like some areas could improve.

22oz bomber. Opaque brown-black with a frothy beige head. Hardcore peppermint in the aroma, think peppermint patty. Quite different, highly unique. The peppermint actually works quite nice as a balancing bitter to the big roasted, chocolate malts. A good bottle to split, taking one of these to the head is pretty intense. Well executed, a little artificial and overflavored, but still nice.
