3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Had some big pours from this out of the bottle recently. Not sure how old it was. I was extremely impressed with this. Strong mint scent that fades into vanilla and chocolate sweetness as it warms. Really enjoyed this.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
South shore bourbon barrel mint stout. 22oz bottle thanks to a recent trade... Pours a dark cola pour with lighter edges and roped with a thin light beige head... Aroma is slightly black licorice, mint through the middle with a slight bourbon bent in the finish... Flavors are thin with a light chocolate and mint bent. Too fluffy and lack of robust flavor. Barrel notes are a bit too assertive at the end adding a booziness that doesn’t mesh well with the consistency of the brew.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Purchased at Discount Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed on my 30th birthday with a good friend before watching the Home Run Derby. Appearance pitch black, like black coffee, with thin tan/cream head that rims around the glass. Aroma like a hodge podge of coffee, bourbon, peppermint, chocolate, and lactose...except that I can’t identify each ingredient separately, just smells like all those ingredients thrown into something. Taste is pretty good, its slightly smooth, very strong. The bourbon really comes through, each sip is somewhat shot-like. Seems like the peppermint provides a slight bite, coffee notes also apparent in the finish, leaves a slightly sour feeling. Also, the lactose/milkyness of this fades in the flavor, doesn’t taste very thick to me. Its pretty good stuff, happy to have given it a shot.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by a friend. Darkest brown pour with a thin beige head. Malty and chocolatey nose with mint, coffee and a cough drop note from the mint. Very mentholy. Cough drop flavor with some sourness (possibly from the barrel, possibly infection setting in), chocolate and mint before a coffee finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma is burnt coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate. As it warms you can smell some mint. Not a lot of bourbon. Taste is upfront pretty minty, dryness from the barrel but the mint covers up a lot of the flavor. Subtle bourbon in the finish. Interesting beer. Solid carbonation, mouthfeel could be thicker.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pouring at the grand tasting at RBSG in Philly. Pours a light black to brown with a thin white head. Mint chocolate chip ice cream. Light isopropyl, more mint and cocoa. Minty and herbal, spicy and smooth. A bit too minty perhaps? Chocolate, coffee, and light wood and roast on the finish. Very interesting beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Always thought adding mint to a stout would be good, so now I finally tried a pour at RBSG. Pours out black with a thin tan head. Aroma is of coffee, chocolate, roast, and very subtle mint notes. Taste is chocolate, heavy oaky bourbon, roast, coffee and some lingering mint in the background. Lots going on.
