Oily black pour with a nose of fresh mint and java. Flavors follow pretty much a straight line...mint, coffee, chocolate, touch of the bourbon barrel. Just OK.

July 21, 2012 from a bottle at All Pints North. Dark brown pour with some head. Bourbon, mint, coffee and chocolate in aroma and taste. Medium body and little carbonation. Really solid beer, but I am a sucker for bourbon.

Draft at ABR. Roasted malt and mint dominate the aroma. I picked up a bit of bourbon, but I didn’t think that it was overpowering. Creamy malt, cocoa, wood and mint on the palate. Fairly rich and creamy. I like it!

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Jeff! Extremely black body, dark beige head lasting as a thin film most of the way down. Aroma has heavy mint, coffee grounds, chocolate malt, light roast... no real indication of bourbon barrel aging on the nose. Taste is also heavy mint, with a mild menthol-like quality... Notes of chocolate, borderline York Peppermint Patty, some tobacco notes in the back-end, roasted malt, burnt coffee grounds, & a mild plum sweetness. There’s a raw whiskey tone that grows heavier with warmth & makes this harder to drink, as the finish gets quite abrasive. Starts off good, but gets a little too harsh & cumbersome fairly quickly. Had promise but kind of fell flat.

Purchased at Discount Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed on my 30th birthday with a good friend before watching the Home Run Derby. Appearance pitch black, like black coffee, with thin tan/cream head that rims around the glass. Aroma like a hodge podge of coffee, bourbon, peppermint, chocolate, and lactose...except that I can’t identify each ingredient separately, just smells like all those ingredients thrown into something. Taste is pretty good, its slightly smooth, very strong. The bourbon really comes through, each sip is somewhat shot-like. Seems like the peppermint provides a slight bite, coffee notes also apparent in the finish, leaves a slightly sour feeling. Also, the lactose/milkyness of this fades in the flavor, doesn’t taste very thick to me. Its pretty good stuff, happy to have given it a shot.

Dark black pour with a nice tan head. Strong bourbon and mint nose - really wonderful! Not too thick, but a big burst of coffee, bourbon and heavy mint in the taste. Unlike any other beer I have has before, really nice!!!

Bottle. Been sitting on this one for a while and finally cracked. Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head. The mint is very noticeable as soon as I poured the beer. Dark roast, chocolate, and mint all in the nose. Slight minty start that stays the whole time. Light chocolate and roast notes. Easy drinking and somewhat refreshing. The only let down is that the bourbon notes are pretty minimal. Medium bodied. Ever so slight lace. Overall, decent.

Bomber pours a dark brown/black with a thin tan head. I’ll have to agree it smells a lot like chocolate chip mint ice cream with a backing of bourbon, not in a bad way though. Wow nice taste! Earthy coffee, a hint of mint, sweet chocolate, and rounded out with vanilla and bourbon. Very well rounded and drinkable. From the aroma you’d think the mint would be overpowering but no one element is every dominate. Very drinkable, nice! I need more of this stuff.

[Draft, ABR ’07] Pours black with a nice large tan head. Bourbon dominates the aroma, although there is definitely some mint there too. Taste is once again way too strong of bourbon, with mint a powerful second and roasted malt more of an afterthought. Medium mouthfeel. Long finish. I’ll give this beer points for originality, but the bourbon takes the score down. I’m officially off the bourbon bandwagon.
