jj21 (82), Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, USA Feb 4, 2008 It looks like I’m alone here, but I really liked this beer. The only thing I will say is that I think it may have been overcarbonated. The second I opened it, foam shot out about 2-3 inches and it was hell to pour.
Yellow body with a great head (maybe due to over-carbonation) that poured worse (or better) than a Duvel. Great retention. Aroma of homey and malts was very prevolent to me. Very crisp on the nose and pallate. Nice honey backbone to smooth out the hops nicely. Very smooth drinker. I could see sitting down with a six pack or more and not getting sick of it. It was a very fresh bottle so maybe they changed something since the other reviewers. Maybe worth a revisit by previous BA’s. Solid offering.
esjaygee (851), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Sep 20, 2008 On Tap at the Great Lakes Brewfest. Mildly hazy golden yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of honey, corn and grain. Taste of honey, mild grassy hops and lemon. Beerlando (1439), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 6, 2008 Pours a cloudy, glowing tangerine-yellow color. What starts as a massive, billowing head of white foam slowly dissipates to a wispy film with a thin edge. Scant lines and traces of lacing mark the glass. The aroma hints at a mild infection, a bit of out-of-place funk interfering with a sweetly glazed, toasted malt background and perfumy, floral hops. Notes of honey really show up in the flavor, highlighting the toasted cereal grains and subtle floral hops. There’s a bit of a wild, almost sour yeast character that again seems to have stemmed from the beginnings of an infection. Medium-light bodied, with balanced carbonation and a floral, semi-sour finish. This would be a decent summertime brew if it were not for the infection, but I have to consider quality control matters in my rating. MartiniFiend (104), Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, USA Jun 4, 2008 Bottle. darker gold with a medium head. Hop aroma with a hint of honey. Smooth on the palate. Nice hop & honey flavor at start with a hop finish. Could have more of a pils flavor. phishpond417 (1520), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 29, 2008 Pours a bright golden colour with a small white head. This beer had a nice pleasent barbecue smell to it. Not smokey, but when i smelled it, i noticed an outdoor wisc barbecue in the aroma. sweet honey fountain!! troyc (1005), Lubbock, Texas, USA Apr 7, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a golden color with a large white head. Aroma is of light citrus and some sweet malts. Actually, sweet honey notes come through well in this brew. Taste includes a typical crisp hoppy bite. Decent mouthfeel, but a bit overcarbonated. I feel like I have had a couple of overcarbonated beers from this brewery. All in all, a pretty good pils.
