Had it at The Pickled herring inside sven and olles in grand Marais, MN. I got it because it was on tap. It had a good brown color and went well with the pizza.

Sample at Great Taste of the Midwest on 08/09/2014: Clear brownish-amber color with a medium thin foamy off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. Roasted nuts and malt in the nose. Light body with flavors of roast malt, peanuts and slight hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Just average overall.

Pouring dark reddish, maybe light brown, amber. Very small wispy white head, minimally lasting. Aroma is malty, sweet. Caramel. Toffee. Bready. Fruity. Light body, perhaps a bit thin. Finish is fairly dry, nutty. OK, but unexciting. Easy drinking enough.

Aroma is malty, a little bitter, caramel, some slight fruit. Taste is a little too bitter for my liking but otherwise similar to the aroma and fairly nice

Deep in the north woods. Tap brew poured into a pitcher with an iced miller light can to keep the beer super chill. So chill. Twangy smooth nutted brown.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Easy to drink with a smooth sweetness, it has only a bit of a bite on the end and a general pleasantness to it. Went well with a club sandwich.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a cloudy medium brown color with a great thick head of foam. Has mostly a malty scent with a little nutty scent. Has a mild taste of roasted malts and bold nutty taste with an slightly above average texture. Something local and interesting to try, but in comparison to other nut brown ales this one was a little thin in it’s texture and still needing a little something more in it’s taste.
