3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Picked up a few bottles from Trigs in Wausau. This stout pours a black brew with some red highlights and a foamy tan head. Aroma of strong coffee, pecans and dark chocolate. Taste of mocha and chocolate barley malt. Some bitter aftertaste.Very well good northern Wisconsin stout.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle to pint (from notes). Looks solid; pretty heady for a stout though. Pitch black. Smells decent; malty. Tastes good. The lactose serves it well. Nice and smooth. Mouthfeel is decent, but very carbonated. Overall, a decent beer that I’d definitely have again.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Very dark black with a thin tan head. Aroma is fresh cut grass, vanilla beans and a touch of coffee with cream in it. The taste is fairly full. A nice dry character with some coffee, grass and cinnamon. Strange feeling at the back of the mouth. It is hard to place, but something like a flat cola? Smells great, but the taste let me down.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Brown opaque with a deep tan, somewhat fizzy, head. Aromas of roast barley, molasses, and slightly vinous and alcohol as it warms. Sweet roasted barley, light caramel, and toast flavors. A decent sweet stout with a dry malty finish.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle, via NachlamSie. Pours a pitch black colored body under a large fizzy and foamy light brown head that has good retention. Aroma is quite roasty with a good dose of coffee, burnt malt, cocoa, chalk, and a bit of caramel. Flavor is roasty and fruity up front with a little bit of coffee. Finishes slightly sour with some ashy burnt malt, caramel, and cocoa. The mouthfeel is extremely fizzy to the point where it actually foams up as soon as it hits the tongue. This seems to be in the very early stages of an infection that is wreaking havoc on the carbonation level. Overall, if the carbonation of this had been a little more pleasing then it would have fared much better overall. It would be worth a try I think.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This has been in our fridge for a while - can’t really remember where it came from, but I’m sure I owe thanks to someone - large tan head over an opaque body with lots of floaties - aroma of wood, sweet cream, crystal malt - very woody for a stout, with a heavy coffee roastiness - high but soft carbonation in the mouth - slight grape and anise - quite a nice stout.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Courtesy of RagallachMC via trade. Aroma has lots of cocoa powder along with light vanilla, roasted malt, fruit, and the slightest touch of coffee. Pours a dark brown with no transparency and a large tan head with very good retention. Starts with lots of dark chocolate and hint of vanilla. Moderately strong fruity backbone. Finishes with a light fruity sourness, slight coffee, and burnt malt. There’s also a touch of acidity. Mouthfeel is a tad fizzy and thin.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Very roasty hickory and coffee aroma. Opaque black body with low cover of tan head that recedes to ring. Very roasty and somewhat sulfurous flavour. Medium body is quite dry with sharp, pointy carbonation. Bottle sampled at DenverLogan’s GABF 2005 wrap-up.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught sample at the brewpub, late July 2006. Black but not opaque with faint light showing through at the edges and a dark ring of lasting head....quite sweet chocolaty, caky nose with perhaps a hint of cherry liqueur, coffee bitterness arrives late and cola notes also impinge on the senses, quite complex and beautiful....milky, licorice-inflected dark chocolate body, faint hints of cherry and light-roast coffee, touches of alcohol, really tasty stuff but the body is on the thin side and the parts just don’t quite add up to brilliance. Still the best sample I had by far at this brewpub.
