Draft. This beer was pretty good, but I couldn’t really tell what the flavor was. It had a sweet malty flavor and a grape-like aftertaste. Kind of a strange brew.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 alexanderj (3049) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - FEB 24, 2007
At brewpub. Dark red, with some hints of brown. Flavor was of sweet malt and grape. Good palate, but would have liked more hops. In fact would have liked any presence of hops. Liked it less the more I drank it.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 mephisto (1265) - TAIWAN - JUN 9, 2006
draft, it’s a typical southstreet brew. normal, not too stunning and not too bad.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Braudog (5025) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - MAY 19, 2006
Draft pint at the brewpub, 5/15/06: Red beer with a satin sheen up to the light. Zippo for a head. Caramel tanginess with a fruity bitterness that’s almost sour. OK.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hellomynameis (872) - Mayer, Minnesota, USA - APR 11, 2006
I want to say more about this beer...but I’m not sure there is much to say. Dark amber, small head from a bad pour. Malt aroma and flavour balanced out by a mild hop flavour. Good session, but not exciting.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hazmatt (363) - Virginia, USA - OCT 23, 2005
Draught at Richmond Beer and Wine Festival 2000 or 2001. Amber color, decent head. Smooth, malt characteristic balanced well with hops. Somewhat crisp. Kept going back to this one.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7254) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 28, 2004
A rather dark amber; I’d say more like dark brown. Roast malt dominates this beer. Not much hop presence. Smooth and easy drinking, but nothing really leapt out. Respectable, but short on excitement. On tap at the brewpub, Charlottesville.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 hershiser2 (1028) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - JUL 7, 2004
Medium copper, small head. Smells and tastes malty and rich- smoked and burned, with not a bad flavor, and actually above average, but nothing extraordinary.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 krisbierjaeger (844) - dolores, Colorado, USA - JAN 1, 2004
satan's pony may be a "workhorse" at the south street bar, but don't overload this fragile waif with expectations of solid character, 'cause it'll buckle. color is well told by it's name, and very little head survives the initial excitement of the pour. aroma of a fairly clean refrigerator: plastic, soap, maybe some damp greens and vague peachy grain; in short: mostly fresh and chilled updrafts reach the nose, but it's not abundantly aromatic. soft carbonation, and, as they say: "perfect balance of malt, hop, and roasted flavors". naturally that means balanced at the low end. papery bitterness, thin, watery. not bad, merely mediocre.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 argo0 (10338) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 11, 2003
Celar copper body with off-white head. Aroma is light earthy. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, earthy. Light/medium body. An ale that could pass as an Oktoberfest.
