GregClow (2350), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 8, 2008 Bottle shared with tupalev, blankboy, HogTownHarry & jerc - blankboy’s bottle. Dark ruby-amber with a slight haze and a good sized beige head. Aroma of sweet caramel, toffee and sticky hops. Medium bodied. Very full-flavoured - sweet and treacly, some nutty notes, and a nice lingering bitterness. Really nice stuff - thanks for sharing this treat, Paul!
GodOfThunder (30), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 8, 2008 Thanks to JMFG for the taste. Poured a cloudy dark brown with a spongy beige head. Smelled of dates, figs and a lot of sugar. This is ultra sweet with some malts and a little sherry. Lots of carbonation, too. Overal, a very good beer. presario (2441), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Oct 6, 2008 Big lasting sponge head. Apples, raisin, caramel, bread, yeast and a hint of alcohol in the baked desert aroma. Flavour is alcohol and sugar like an alcohol based sauce to pour over a baked desert. Lots of character as the malt floats over your tongue like waves. Alcohol, sugar, coffee, toffee and a hint of chocolate. dchmela (775), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 3, 2008 Sample courtesy JMFG. Pours a brownish red with a little head. Big caramel malt toffee, sweet sticky aroma. Sweet malt taste with caramel sherry and dark fruits. Very good beer. lethe (162), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 3, 2008 Bomber purchased at the Publick House. I was concerned this would be past its prime, but was quickly relieved. Poured a ruddy brown with substantial foam. Nose was a little muted but had a distinct wood and spice aroma. Palate was thick but with still enough carbonation to keep it lively. Flavor was very enjoyable with no alcohol presence: sugary, sweet malts up front that were balanced with a long oaky dryness. This was perfectly aged with great flavor characteristics and nuance. I recommend grabbing bottles that are still kicking around. bconley (40), Fern Park, Florida, USA Oct 2, 2008 Nice caramel and sweet BIG malts. Fruity and figgy. Strong alcohol taste. Not overpowering. Syrupy body. Pretty cool.
