Bottle on the balcony with the wife. Aroma of raisins, sherry, brown sugar, booze. Full bodied, but with decent carbonation. Flavors of plum, dried fruit, brown sugar. Long finish, with red ripe berried and more dried fruit developing. Exquisite.

This thing is killer! and i don’t like quads.... Sample pour of deep dark burnt caramel with tan head. Nose comes through with plenty of caramel and smooth malts, not too much sweet or dried fruit, thank goodness! Flavor is the same, again, smooth caramel malt and a mild spice with a mild sweet dried fruit, but not too much. This thing is great!

Pours deep dark brown with a fizzy off-white head that dissipates quickly. Dark fruits, some caramel, raisins, baking spices, and just a touch of grape, which I actually really like. Nice, full body, but good and clean. This is really quite good -- up there with the Roche for me.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 QuezXLV (375) - New Jersey, USA - FEB 18, 2013
Did anyone else have a really hard time getting the cork out? Anyway, this is a powerful abbey ale with intense flavor. Carmel notes and raisin. Great dark red color. Nice weight in the palate and the alcohol, although not exceedingly high, is well hidden. Great selection.

Pours a clear dark garnet with a lasting, though thin, light tan head. Aroma is dark dried fruit. Taste is sweet caramel malt, but short of cloying, along with the dark fruit again. There’s also a butteriness to the taste that connects the initial sweetness with the following tartness. This is a great brew.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 alobar (2337) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 5, 2013
Pours a dark chestnut brown color with a soapy off-white head. Aroma of dark fruit, fig, Belgian yeast, and hint of alcohol. Sweet flavor with dark fruit, fig, and caramel with a hint of Belgian yeast and alcohol warmth.

Surprisingly mild aroma with cookie dough, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor is candy-sweet, with bread, caramel, brown sugar, and apple. A little bitterness and some drying alcohol in the finish. If you’re in the mood for a treat, this beer is worth seeking out.
