(750 ml bottle from 1828 Vintage House, cellared for 1 year after purchase) Sweet, soft and spicy...Pours dark rubyish amber. Fairly clear - surprising. A finger or so of soft-looking, light khaki/tan head. Aroma of dark fruits, light candy malt, brown sugar, hints of port. Mouthfeel is buttery soft - wow, awesome. A bit sticky as it warms. Beautiful weepy sheets of lacing. Flavor is sweetness and spice. Candyish malt and dark fruit sweetness with a marvelous spice note (not quite cinnamon but sort of). Dark and sweet. ABV very well-covered. Not overly complex but complex enough. Just straightforward elegant with an excellent palate and a very unique flavor that hits the mark. A great beer and I think a great one to cellar.

Nov 20, 2008 no head to speak of, but it sits on a nice reddish brown body. flavor is very fruity, but a ripe fruitiness (cherries and raisens)rich and sweet, but not cloying.

Oct 23, 2008 Bottle thanks to JB175. Pours with a huge, fluffy, off-white head and a clear brown body (too light for the style). Good lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, brandy, bananas, pears, spices, some bubblegum, dates and molasses. Taste is sweet throughout with dark fruits some alcohol, spices, molasses, sherry, and raisins. Warming, with a creamy mouthfeel and lively bubbles.

does not count  Oct 22, 2008 The aroma contains definite alcohol with a hint of molasses and dough and dark fruits. The head is off-white and rocky with good lacing. The body is clear and bronze. The initial flavor is sweet with a long lightly bitter finish. The palate has a medium body, a syrupy finish, lively carbonation, and a heavily alcoholic feel.

Oct 6, 2008 750 mL bottle shared by kiefdog. Wow. Big sweetness and flavor in this one. Pours a dark brown/ amber color with a creamy off-white head. Sweet caramel, sugar, bourbon, alcohol, and cinnamon in aroma. Very syrupy mouthfeel with sugar in the flavor and finish, along with all of the qualities listed in the aroma. Very distinguished quad.
