COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Most folks from the Northeast go to Florida when November arrives. But not the Southampton brewmaster, Phil Markowski. Back in 1995, Phil headed to Düsseldorf, Germany to taste the famous altbiers of the region. "Alts" are unique: less fruity than most ales but with a crisp drinkability of a lager. So what did Phil bring back from his trip? Authentic German ingredients and a recipe for an altbier that will surprise your senses. One taste and you’ll be happy that Phil decided not to go to Florida, too.

A: Dark reddish brown... tiny head.. no lacing... S: Some soft fruits... some nuttiness.. some woodiness.. lots of blandness. T: Essentially the same as nose... which doesn’t translate as well in the taste.. its off kilter and lacks any one element that i can jump on and enjoy... M: Medium bodied... not smooth... dull finish... O: Southampton... you should know better.. (review from 2008)

Eh, it’s a little more bitter than your standard subpar German altbier. Maybe because I just had uerige? Light body might be the reason for the hightened bitterness

Bottle ---> Highball glass. Appears a nice caramel body with a fluffy head. Smells is full of caramel roasted notes with some bread in the mix. Tastes a little spicy and hoppy with a robust malt backbone. Mouthfeel is smooth and almost creamy, quite different for a beer but a good characteristic nonetheless.
