Commercial Description:
Most folks from the Northeast go to Florida when November arrives. But not the Southampton brewmaster, Phil Markowski. Back in 1995, Phil headed to Düsseldorf, Germany to taste the famous altbiers of the region. "Alts" are unique: less fruity than most ales but with a crisp drinkability of a lager. So what did Phil bring back from his trip? Authentic German ingredients and a recipe for an altbier that will surprise your senses. One taste and you’ll be happy that Phil decided not to go to Florida, too.

Very good indeed. Pretty dark amber with a big lacing head. The aroma is bread like and sweet. Flavor is nicely balanced with a malt sweetness followed by a dry hop finish.

Bottle. Copperish in color, clear, with a decent beige colored head. The smell is dough like, malts, grains, and caramel. The taste is the same as the smell. Easy to drink but sort of simple.

Pours a nice copper colorWith a beige creamy head. Aromas of sweet caramel malts dominate the aroma. Flavor is of smooth caramel malts and raisins with the slightest hop hint at the finish.Very smooth and nicely balanced.

[Bottle] Pours a copper color with a small amount of off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malts. Taste is mostly caramel malts with some darker toffee notes. Light hoppy finish. Light, yet creamy, palate. A pretty basic beer, but seems well made and refreshing to me.

Pours a gorgeous brown leather color. Malty sweet aroma almost like brown sugar and raisins. Basic clean malt flavor. For my first altbier, I’m impressed.

Bottle via the rip and run. Pours a burnt sienna brown. Steady carbonation yields a thin white head. Nose is sweet and has wet charcoal hints. Body is sweet to the point of eclipsing the malt I long to taste. I search but fail to detect any hops. finish is lackluster. Not healping dull the pain in my shoulder.
