Big thanks to schlimenhaumer for sending this bottle out my way. Thanks to cosmicevan for getting me a Southampton Anniversary snifter to serve this beer in. Southampton, maybe a tulip for next year’s release? Pours a beautiful blackberry-purple color. The berries have really taken over the appearance on this one. Thin white head with a bit of a purple tint. Not too much retention of lacing. The nose carries a strong note of black raspberry with some underlying acidity. Not too much in the way of earth or funk; this is almost all fruit, but it does that aspect incredibly well. The lack of depth and complexity catches up in the flavor, which sticks mostly just to the berry and following acidity. Body is light with a nice dry, fruity finish. Good lactic acidity throughout. Nothing overpowering, but it does the job. Overall, a really nice brew that I was really glad to try. Not quite up to the level of the berliners, but still a very solid wild.

Shared bottle with my wife on Easter, poured into oversized tulip. Looks great; just like you’d hope it would based on the name. Smells great; tart and fruity. Tastes great! The fruit is delightful and pairs wonderfully with the lambic. Mouthfeel is very good as well. Overall, a really good beer.

On tap at SPH. Pours a dark red with a thin pink head. Aroma of sour raspberry, wheaty malt, diaper, hay. Flavor is very very tart and sour on initial and final sips. Light fruits, more generic than specifically raspberry. Lots of sour, milk, diaper notes as well. A bit too tart for my liking, I wish more of the sweet fruit came through. 6/4/5/3/12 (3.0/5)

Bottle - shared with Bill and Elijah. Pours a serious dark purple with a two finger foamy head..Nice, big funky raspberry and dark fruits on the nose. Taste is all raspberries, tart cherries and lactic acid. Nicely carbed with a sour puckering finish. Enjoyable stuff..

Pours with a murky dark pinkish purple sort of color supporting a white head that carried a pinkish hue. The aroma offers up a nice load of raspberry like fruitiness as well as some tartness, sourness and yeasty notes into the end of the draw. The taste comes across as tart and then getting sour with wild like yeastiness that gets to the point of being a bit acidic like and puckering. Around those notes is a pleasing amount of raspberry fruitiness. Cool brew with more raspberry going on than I would have expected.

Bottle… CCB’s Hunahpu’s Day 2012… Cloudy purple ale with a small, creamy, violet head. The bouquet presents fruity, acidic, black raspberries - and that’s pretty much all - and it’s more than enough. Delicious. Light-bodied and a touch astringent with lively carbonation. Very fruity and very tart with tons of black raspberry flavor, including plenty of tannins that provide fantastic balance. Finishes fruity, watery and quite dry. Bottle courtesy of Maltzilla!

Bottle shared by the Maltzilla at the pre-Huny tasting. Clear grape pour with no head. Raspberry nose. Sweet and delicious with beery, kool-aid, and artificial sweetener notes.

Pour from a bottle thanks to a nice trade. Color is purple red in the glass with a modest white head. Aromas are fruit forward of dark berry with maybe just a touch of sweet funk. Flavors are full of black raspberry, grape and slight oak. The lactic tartness is moderate and not strong. Alcohol is well hidden. Long finish of the above flavors. Really good well balanced beer.

750 ml. bottle pour. Dark purple color with almost no head. Perfect tart, acidity, flavor and complexity. Great Lambic.
