pours clear bright golden with a nice off-white head offering some retention and some lacing too. caramel, toffee - sweetish malted base - brown sugar, bitter herbs, along some lightly earthy and peppery notes, hint of coconut and other woodsy/musty notes, minerals, clean english yeastiness perhaps. low carbonation, light body - oily, creamy and smooth, balanced citrusy-grassy-gently earthy finish. interesting minerality and englishy angles.

This beer is mellow and smooth. Has a distinctly different finish from many other IPAs. A bit sweeter and kind of creamy.

12 oz Bottle from Total Wine and More The IPA poured a clear amber with foamy white head and lacing. This is nice looking ale. This is mild tasting IPA. Not much on the nose and just no bitterness of a well hopped ale. It is easy to drink. The IPA has a medium body with average carbonation. Some toffee or malts come out at the finish but still rather tame.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy light amber with very little head. True to style of an english IPA. Not bad, not great.

Bottle pour. Mostly clean gold in glass. Head on the small side. Nose are roasted caramel malts, citrus hops and some honey. A bit rich. Taste is mellow hops, medium malts. Sweet in the middle, especially on warming. Grassy finish. Decent stating power.

Pours slightly hazy copper with white head. Aroma is Toffee and caramel malt, slight bourbon. Very crisp smooth and drinkable. Nice caramel and toffee malt backbone. Pine bitter on the hop side. Pretty good english style IPA.

Hazy copper to amber pour with a 1 finger creamy beige head that has good retention . Aroma is fruity, Fuggles-like hops, cereal, toast, apple skins, and light mineral notes. Flavor is big on toast and cereal up front leading to caramelized grains, pleasant fruity esters, citrus, apple, mineral notes and a nice clean, slightly fruity, slightly mineral finish. Light to medium body with an off dry entry, medium, blanketing carbonation and crisply dry, mineral water finish. Good stuff overall, not really my favorite sub-style of IPA, but it is a nicely refreshing, drinkable example.

Sampled at Big Brew Beer Festival (Morristown). Poured a hazy golden color with a big foamy off white head. Aroma of rotted citrus and caramel malt. Taste of ripened lemons, grapefruit skins, and caramel malt.

Undated (definitely a late 2013) bottle from Half Time, drunk 2/15/14
Bronze body is somewhat hazy, despite the bottle resting in the fridge for quite a while. Strange. There is also no head to be coaxed out. Rather still in the glass...
Yep, quite burtonized as advertised. Lots of limestone, earthiness, very light acidity and a touch of salinity. Spicy hops are quite evident and help add complexity while a touch of bready malts are mostly dry and unassuming. A bit of diacetyl in there as well. Not overbearing and it works in a British IPA most of the time, though it certainly clashes with the clean, peppery spiciness of the hops. Moderate aroma strength, no alcohol noted.
Carbonated enough in texture and not yeasty or nutty so I don’t know where the haziness is coming from. There is a touch of something on the bottom. Half Time keeps their place well-lit and warm so it could just be protein break. Maybe the bottle is like 5 or 6 months old at this point? Dosent seem bottle conditioned either. Oh ya, and the flavor, there’s that too. Nice hop presence, with lime, hay, black pepper and just a touch of orange zest. It is balanced by a lightly sweet bready maltiness and finishes lightly bitter with plenty of mineral character and a bit of vanilla-like flavor. A touch of wateriness, but nowhere near the low carbonation I was expecting based on the complete lack of head. I guess playing with the pH and chemical content of the water can do that to the head. Anyways, Ive talked way more about that than is necessary. Drinkable beer, love the mineral flavor and the hops are done well. Could use a bit more crispness as the honey (butter) cream-maltiness doesnet go too well with what the hops are doing here. Still, Susquehana Brewing seems a major upgrade from Saratoga (not that that’s saying much). Why don’t they have this stuff brewed at Two Roads? Would imagine this stuff would be significantly better fresh on tap.
