Moderate floral hop aroma. Cloudy orange color with a small tan head. Mild bitterness in the beginning. Gets sweeter in the middle and develops a floral hop that last until the finish.

Bottle. Amber with a medium, dense white head. Aroma is spicy hops, floral hops, caramel and tea leaves. Taste is spicy hops, floral hops, big caramel, toasted malt, tea, and soft citrus. Body is medium with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more tea leaves, chewy caramel, toasted malt, spicy hops and floral notes.

Bottle from Wegman’s in KOP. I could not find a bottle date but what is life without risks? Pours clear orange / copper with a small white head that quickly dissipates. There is some small bubble carbonation in the glass. The aroma is a citrus blast with a good mix of orange and grapefruit. There is a little bit of an astringency and a bit of caramel in the distance. The taste has a bit of a dry bitterness and has almost a spicy aspect. There is some caramel, light citrus. This is good but not great, in my opinion.

Bottle poured an amber in color with a thin covering of off white head that retained a nice pillow in the center. Aroma has bitter hops, minerals, plenty malted, and some grains. Mouth feel is medium and the carbonation a little low. Flavor again has a hefty bit of malt, medium bitterness, minerals, and some caramel sweetness.

Long Island, NY - 12 oz. poured a slightly hazy amber color with slightly off white head and moderate lacing. Aroma is more malty than hoppy and taste follows suit. This seems like an ode to more traditional British IPAs. It might be a good brew but not one I would call an IPA is this day and age. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy, brownish-orange pour with a small, white head. The aroma is floral with some light citrus. It has a medium body with a slick, oily texture and lively carbonation. The taste is mildly bitter with a little saltiness in the finish.

I had this in draft and I feel it has gotten a bad rap. True English style ipa with residual bitterness which is well matched by the sweet malt content with more orange like fruit tones than the heavy citrus punch we see in its American cousins. Bottled form seems a bit watered down though. The bottle version is the basis of my rating.

copper color, aroma of caramel, bread, citrus hops, sweeter than usual, not a big fan

GABF, 2012, Friday Evening. Good malt flavor with moderately roasted grain, but also some dry hops that I have come to expect for the few Burton ales I have tried. Full mouth feel with a good palate, a well made beer like most everything from Southampton.
