3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Long Island, NY - 12 oz. poured a slightly hazy amber color with slightly off white head and moderate lacing. Aroma is more malty than hoppy and taste follows suit. This seems like an ode to more traditional British IPAs. It might be a good brew but not one I would call an IPA is this day and age.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy, brownish-orange pour with a small, white head. The aroma is floral with some light citrus. It has a medium body with a slick, oily texture and lively carbonation. The taste is mildly bitter with a little saltiness in the finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I had this in draft and I feel it has gotten a bad rap. True English style ipa with residual bitterness which is well matched by the sweet malt content with more orange like fruit tones than the heavy citrus punch we see in its American cousins. Bottled form seems a bit watered down though. The bottle version is the basis of my rating.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
GABF, 2012, Friday Evening. Good malt flavor with moderately roasted grain, but also some dry hops that I have come to expect for the few Burton ales I have tried. Full mouth feel with a good palate, a well made beer like most everything from Southampton.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at pony bar HK. Pours a bright, hazy orange body with no head, very light lacing. Aroma is muted spice and malt, very restrained overall. Mouthfeel is medium and somewhat slick with notes of super sweet candy, cloying sugars, light bittering hop, light citrus and super sugary sweet malts. The sweetness ruined this beer for me overall.

3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Burton IPA is the kind that goes beyond the over-the-top bitterness that you find in most of the style. Hop flavors of floral and slightly fruity shine through the initial bite and linger on the palate after it goes down. Aroma is enjoyable but light. Color is a light amber. Burton IPA is great to add to the usual rotation and a standout among the sea of IPAs.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a golden rusty orange pour with no head. Nose is rather flat and without distinction. Taste is rather bland and not typical of an IPA. Drinkable but unimpressive. Quaff Score 4 / 10

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Southampton Burton IPA has a medium, off-white head and a mostly clear, bubbly, reddish-gold appearance, with a good amount of thick lacing left on the glass. There is a rich, roasted, malty aroma and a moderately hoppy, malty flavor, with hints of caramel and toffee. The mouthfeel is medium and Southampton Burton IPA finishes wet, refreshing, and very tasty. Overall, this is excellent. RJT
