Eyedrinkale (3109), Beer Town, New York, USA Jul 12, 2006 Tap at Hop Devil Grill. Rich black with a dark brown head. Aroma is rich, burnt espresso, chocolate and vanilla. Taste isn’t burnt but more smooth and dry. A bit thinner in body then the aroma leads you to think it will be. The taste is silky smooth with a very mellow hop bitterness. beaconstreet (810), Washington DC, USA Sep 4, 2006 The order of the day. Rich and hearty, chocolate and espresso notes all over the place, like Baker’s chocolate smashed up and blended with your local espresso joint and a kiss of cherry snuck in. Yeah, something like that. Real espresso felt all over this beer. Even on a hot day this was excellent. Good work. This could be a dessert beer, or an afternoon standover break from travelling across Long Island earlier in the hot summer day. mkobes (2027), somewhere, New Jersey, USA Jul 7, 2006 On tap at Hop Devil Grill. Deep dark brown in color with a dark tan head that dissipated. Strong coffee aroma. Lots of espresso. Roasty chocolatety notes. Malty and roasty coffee flavor. Bittersweet chocolate notes. Finish is dry. Full bodied. Well balanced. Clean tasting. Smooth and creamy. Very nice. Enjoyable. Dickinsonbeer (2514), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Feb 3, 2006 On tap at the pub and more from a growler. Pours a very deep dark black with maroon highlights near the head. Ok head, lasting and a nice lace. Aroma is overwhelming with tons of deep dark rich coffee. Nice and smooth though, and not a harsh coffee aroma like some other coffee stouts. Flavor is slihgtly sweet, coffee throughout, with some roasted barley and hints of chocolate. Extremely smooth palate and a nice creamy finish. Big thanks to Charlie at the bar for hooking us up with this. Jine (857), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Aug 24, 2006 Tap at SPH. 8.21.06
Manhattan Special of beer. Super coffee aroma. Mega coffee flavor. Roasted roasted. If you want a really overpoweringly coffee taste in your stout, go for this.
