3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Courtesy Beerlando. Pours a light hazy amber with a thin white head. Light tart, citrus, grapefruit aroma with hints of sourness. Citrus, grapefruit and hints of red wine tannins in the taste. Light and crisp with hints of tart flavors with a nice malt body, really tasty.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2011 Very murky honey gold orange, not much head... nose is awesome, what you imagine a barrel aged Orval would be, vinous brett with oak... To much brett on the taste, distracting, oak pine hop finish... Gets better as your drink it

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml bottle shared at a tasting. Big thanks to Denis and/or Yowie.
Appearance : Hazy pale amber.
Aroma : Great brett with light tartness. Awesome nose.
Taste : Nice brett with a light bitterness. Nice brett on the finish. Finish rather spicy. Some yeasty esters.
Overall : Great beer. Nice nose (better than taste). Nice light tartness. No real trace of the wine barrel. Well balanced and quite drinkable. Delightful beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
My Bottom Line:
Biscuity honeyed malts are efficiently dried out by pepper-y brettanomyces, as passionfruit and peach esters develop even more complexity for this elegant Wild Ale .
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A generous head of foam tops the misty golden amber.
-The pillowy effervescence is perfect for the low residual sugar level.
-Fruitiness is also citrusy throughout.
-I would not have said the barrel used to have red wine. The wild yeast seems to have done a great clean-up job.
-This is as complex as it is drinkable. I hope they make it more often!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at the Funky 6. Pours cloudy gold with a slight, off-white head. Lightly funky aroma, musty, with some toasty malts. Fairly sweet flavor with some flowery sweetness, Belgian sugars, funky yeast. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Finishes with hints of alcohol, sugary malts, light wood and lingering funk. Interesting and pretty good.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
In short: A weird mess with no style
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed fresh soon after the beer release. Post- BCTC 2010 tasting
The look: Partly cloudy golden body topped by a very small off-white head
In long: Nose is sweet and a perfumy component that I described as scented wood. Taste is a mess of flavors thrown together. Grapes, bubblegum, residual sugar, garden flowers, stuff. I read here that it is aged for one year in red wine barrels (didn’t notice that) and uses brett (didn’t notice that either). With brett and all maybe the beer can develop into something, but fresh this beer was a mess. I’m surprised to see not-so-negative comments here since I clearly remember this beer being greeted by a collective “What The Fuck?” around the table. Weird. I don’t know what to say. I haven’t known what to say since the armed man with the cue cards has stopped following me.

Another sick growler courtesy of Jonathan sampled at the LCBS 10. Hazy straw color with a small white head. Aromas of barn, hay, and brett. Sour flavors of Belgian candies and bourbon. Interesting combo, but good....

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Gold pour, light head. Aroma of honey, perfume, yeast, light hops, wood...unique stuff. Flavor is funky, fruity, perfume, floral...odd, but pretty good. Thanks JW.
