Our imperial, Baltic-style porter is inspired by the strong, dark brews exported from Great Britain to Eastern Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries. Rich and flavorful with upfront notes of chocolate, caramel and toffee.

Found this in NY and what a find it was. Pours nearly black with a thick and long lasting white head. Aroma is so seductive becase the sensations are hidden so well. Wine is the dominant factor along with burnt coffee, toast, caramel and chocolate. Taste has a fantastic white wine feel to it which I love. Flavors get better as it goes down. One of the best Porters I’ve ever had.

22oz bottle sampled at Brewtopia ’05. Black color with a small tan head. Mild aroma of roasted malts and dark bitter chocolate and hops. Flavor was also somewhat muted. Dark roasted malt, dark chocolate and some hop bitterness. Maybe I’m a bit jaded, since I sampled this right after their Russian Imperial Stout, but it wasn’t nearly as good as I had hoped.

04.16.05 Brewtopia ’05 Bomber. Black, small head. Pretty hoppy in a floral way. Roasty. Not an exciting beer, and much more bitter than seems necessary for the style, cocoa bitterness at times. Lots of caramel, vanilla, feels too thin. Not what I had hoped for. I sampled this one twice.

Sampled at Brewtopia 2005. Poured dark brown with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of sweet roasted chocolate. Taste followed from the aroma with strong notes of roasted chocolate with a dry hoppy finish. The alcohol slowly revealed itself towards teh end of the mouthful. Overall very balanced, and very drinkable.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2010 Thin head, light brown, with light carbonation. Sweet caramel aroma, dusty malts, with lots of butter and toffee. Hint of coffee. Dark reddish brown in color. Bitter flavor with loads of roasted grains. Flavor is not sweet at all which is typical of baltic porters. Palate is dry and a little thin for the style. Dry bitter finish. Dark chocolate is apparent in this long and bitter finish. A good brew but seemed a little off. Will have to try this one again in the future.
