jsh12bama (182), Alabama, USA Feb 22, 2008 Dark brown pour with thick tan head. Aroma is chocolate and malt and not much else. Medium mouthfeel with nice, smooth finish. Taste has chocolate, dark fruit, and nutty flavor to it. Good beer.
shintriad (661), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 3, 2008 Quite a lot of flavour in this. Chocolate, caramel, malts, dried fruit, some toasted flavours, although the body is kind of thin and the complexity wanes as you drink...it’s sort of a flat ride. Still, quite tasty, pleasant and smooth. blklab2007 (518), Connecticut, USA Aug 2, 2008 22 oz bottle aged several months poured into a snifter has a dark brown color and a thin dark brown head. aroma has prunes, raisin, burnt marshmallow, and some sour funk. mouth feel is thin with light carbonation. flavor has burnt coffee, dark over ripe fruit, brown sugar, and a touch of dark chocolate. hazelnut creeps in and there is a good balance of darkness and sweetness. islay (379), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Aug 1, 2008 22 oz. bottle, consumed at the brewpub on 7-31-08. Split with a friend. Pours a dark brown with a maroon to dark amber hue and beige head. Surpringly fruit-juicy, sweet aroma: Grape juice, prune, raisin, and cabernet or merlot scents. Touch of coffee in the start and finish of the flavor, but not in the middle; the middle of the taste features the same fruit ale elements as the aroma. Caramel flavor as well. Very pleasant. Improves on multiple sips. I think this would hold up well to multiple tastings. Medium body. Not remarkable in the palate. BuckeyeSammy (350), New York City, New York, USA Jul 28, 2008 Dark almost black color with a darker biege head and great lacing. A bit thin in th carbination department but so smooth. Flavor has hints a figs and prunes, cocoa, dark malt. High drinkability. sleepylopes (269), New York, USA Jul 28, 2008 the price is right so come on down for our next drinking game. Not much head but the nose has dark after diner treats and the flavor is caramel and backs a lot of smoothness. Plum notes round out the flavor an nose. The finish is all coffeemilk.
