Bottle (750 ml). 2010 vintage. From Pier-Luc, thanks! Black with a small to medium beige head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, cherries, molasses and vanilla. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet (really not that much for an RIS) with fruity notes, roasted malt, molasses, caramel, vanilla and light woodiness. Light bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium body. Good carbonation. Slightly dry mouthfeel. Interesting Imperial Stout that is complex, but also not too heavy and quite drinkable for the style. Nice fruity profile.

750 ml bottle shared with Tom and chums around bonfire. Pours black with a beige head. Some tartness in the aroma. Not so much else. Flavor is dark cherry, coffee, strong toffee, some saltiness. But just may be a bit too sweet. Hoppy finish, actually, very hoppy. Lots of coffee. Lots of grass. Good balance! Medium to strong body, sticky, heavy mouthfeel, average carbonation.

750ml bottle shared by brew3crew, 2011 vintage, bottle 382 / 650. Black color. Nice darker brown colored head. Dark fruit, molasses in the flavor. Some raisin. Not a great flavor for an imperial stout. Some cardboard. Moderate bitter, moderate sweet taste, some alcohol sweetness. Big body, lightly sticky. Light carbonation. Big sweet, light burnt sugar aroma. Not my favorite RIS.

750 ml bottle to snifter (2011 vintage, 382/650; thanks brew3crew). Looks good; a dull black with ample mocha head. Smells solid; dark malt, roast, and chocolate. Tastes like it smells, only more chocolatey, and with a touch of plum tartness that’s unique but good on the palate. Good stuff.

2012. #64/650. Bottle @ Stouts Tasting Pt III: Brokeback Edition. Cheers to Leighton for bringing this along. The pour’s deep brown with a tight tan head. Pretty gorgeous looking in the glass. The nose is earthy spice. Plenty of cinnamon, cocoa, pecan pie. Rich chocolate icing. Hints of tangy chocolate-dipped red berries. The taste is pretty luscious. Nice earthy charred malts. Bitter cocoa. Toasted shredded coconut. Accents of caramel and rasberry in the finish. Nice bitterness. Smooth, full flavors. Overall, great.
