750 ml bottle served in a Southampton oversized snifter. Big thanks to cosmicevan for throwing the guy my way. Bottle #281/450, 2013 vintage. A: Pours a dark black color with a dark mocha head forming on the pour. Very nice retention as it recedes to a thick head and collar. Sticky lace left down the glass. S: Nice roasted malts, some char and some dark fruit. Creamy, bready malts with some light cocoa and coffee bean notes as well. Some sweet molasses on the back end as well. T: Nice roasted malts with a slight hint of char. Coffee grounds with some dark chocolate. Some sweet boozy notes mixes with some molasses and a little bit of dried bitterness on the finish. M: Medium to heavy bodied with a nice drinkability. Medium carbonation trending towards the lower end of the spectrum. Smooth finish. O: A really nice stout. Lots of char and chocolate with a nice sweetness form the alcohol to cut it. Not the most hidden booze for ~10%, but it doesn’t detract from the overall drinkability of the beer. Pours pitch black with a thick mocha head. Aroma has some slightly boozy dark fruit, notes of tobacco and molasses. Flavor follows suot and adds great smokey/charred notes and bitter dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is full and creamy with a bold, roasty finish that lingers and warms nicely. This is a helluva impy stout.

extra @ cascade + upright tasting sessions - ’coz we’re porks. pours very dark brown with small beige cap, some retention and lacing. cherries, roasted malts, mushrooms, soy, hint of smoke, bourbony and other interesting woodsy notes without it being barrel-aged (or is it?).. moderate to soft carbonation, medium body - oily, nice fruity cherries-peppery finish. most enjoyed it!

Bottle (750 ml). 2010 vintage. From Pier-Luc, thanks! Black with a small to medium beige head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, cherries, molasses and vanilla. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet (really not that much for an RIS) with fruity notes, roasted malt, molasses, caramel, vanilla and light woodiness. Light bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium body. Good carbonation. Slightly dry mouthfeel. Interesting Imperial Stout that is complex, but also not too heavy and quite drinkable for the style. Nice fruity profile.

750 ml bottle shared with Tom and chums around bonfire. Pours black with a beige head. Some tartness in the aroma. Not so much else. Flavor is dark cherry, coffee, strong toffee, some saltiness. But just may be a bit too sweet. Hoppy finish, actually, very hoppy. Lots of coffee. Lots of grass. Good balance! Medium to strong body, sticky, heavy mouthfeel, average carbonation.
