Eyedrinkale (3109), Beer Town, New York, USA Dec 29, 2004 Updated: Jan 30, 2005 2002 bottle courtesy of Phil. Black as night with a smallish tan head. You can smell the roasted malt as you pour this liquid gold into the glass. First sip is silky smooth with chocolate and coffee mingled beautifully with a light bitter hoppiness coating the tongue. Completely balanced without being too sweet. Nice warming alcohol burn.
TheCheeseMan (513), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Sep 7, 2008 Pours a nearly opaque black. Tan head quickly subsides into a thin blanket across the surface. Aroma is deeply roasted with some pie spice notes, licorice, bittersweet coffee, molasses. Very nice. The flavor is as rich as you are led to believe, with no noticeable alcohol. GregClow (2332), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 1, 2008 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, blankboy, tupalev, jerc & garthicus - courtesy of HogTownHarry. Deep, deep ruby-black with a small tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malt, coffee grounds, dark cocoa, a hint of herbal hops. Leaves a serious film on the glass when it’s swirled, so I’m not surprised by the big mouthfeel. Flavour is outstanding - lots of dark malt and coffee, a touch of cream, an acceptable level of alcohol warmth, and a well hopped finish. Beautiful stuff! garthicus (550), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 27, 2008 Shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, Tupalev,Jerc & Blankboy -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Appearance: Pitch black, gray head. Aroma: Chocolate, coffee and malt. Flavour: Chocolate and alcohol, with turf/peat too, some coffee for good measure, very very drinkable, very very enjoyable. Tremendous. Thanks for sharing this Harry. General_Gao (2509), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Aug 27, 2008 Hand bottled. Shared by badbeer. Thanks! Thick, oily pour. Opaque black with a brown head. Smelled of chocolate (ala tootsie rolls) with a dash of soy. Full bodied and sweet with moderate bitterness and a warming alcohol effect. Tasted of baker’s chocolate, burnt toffee, and chocolate liqueur. Pretty tasty. TheRealBastard (94), New Jersey, USA Aug 26, 2008 Pours darker than used oil. Creamy off white head. Aroma is roasted malt and alcohol. Taste is chocolate, coffee, and alcohol. Very good; a pleasure to drink very highly recommended. I wish I had more of this, looks like I’m gonna have to wait for the next release! Hurry up!
